2014 MLB Playoffs Discussion

It's fucking awesome seeing a small-market team like the Royals, who assembled most of their team from their own farm system doing so well. Division rival or not, I hope they win it all. It gives hope to a small market fan. But then I realize I'm a Cleveland fan and hope dong punches me, pushes me into a mud puddle, and dumps feathers all over me.

It's the wrong team doing it - although I might be slightly biased.

the O's are lacking that one guy (like Cain or Escobar or Aoki) that can turn basically anything other than a flyout into a hit due to their speed. The only contact hitter the Orioles have is Markakis, and he's not exactly a prime example.

Just a matter of time now. The Orioles will strike out most of the read of this game. or ground into yet another double play. There's no reason for the Royals pitching to throw anything but strikes and balls on the edges of the strike zone. The Orioles won't be patient enough to walk and eventually the Royals lineup will break through with another run or 3.

Before everybody gets wrapped up in the Royals being "unbeatable", remember the Rockies had a similar run in '07. They won 14/15 to close the regular season, then swept the first two rounds of the playoffs. That was an insane 21-1 run only to get swept in the WS. Fucking Indians...up 3-1 in the LCS only to Cleveland it up.

This year though the Royals match up vs the NL winner Likely SF) quite well.

They are more talented than SF top to bottom and can play small ball/goofy fucking breaks baseball with anyone.

They probably won't, but should, be favored to win the WS.

I've been riding the KC train with real world bets since mid September. I goddamn-fucking-a-HEART the Royals.:biggrin2:
