I think we have enough speed to cause Germany some problems but they are so technically sound, we cannot be out of position.

Back from watch party. Pretty much this.before the game all I wanted was a tie....but that fucking sucks
Speaking of Christ- my friends and I also accomplished this last week.Back from watch party. Pretty much this.
Christ that was disappointing/heartbreaking end.
Pretty much this. Luckily Ghana and Portugal are actually a pretty even matchup the way both have looked so far this tournament. That needs to hold true- but lean a little Portugal's way. Hoping for a draw between them, but a small Portugal victory shouldn't be unreasonable.I can't think that Portugal is going to walk out of this group without a win, and Ghana is solid enough not to lose by more than one....yeah? Okay, 2-1 Portugal.
In which case, let's just lose by 3 or less :)
He had a poor trap on that popped up ball late. Hustled after it to try and prevent the second bounce and control it under his foot. It slipped away.Huh?
Great post. Not the way you want to finish, but I stopped hanging my head after about 60 seconds. We're on four points after two games in the group of death. That's a great position to be in and I'm proud of the team.
The US has ripped the hearts out of plenty of teams on this stage before. It's not often they have been in the position to have it done to them in this manner. As a nation following this sport, this is new territory for us.
Bradley is not going to be dropped so just stop asking for it. He's too important to this team's chances and he isn't going to find the form they need from him by sitting on the bench. The giveaway at the end was vital, but it could have happened to any player from this team. On the whole I think he played better than in the first game. My biggest gripe with him at this point is that Klinsmann, by playing two holding midfielders, clearly wants him to play in a more advanced position. He's being given the platform to pull the strings of the US attack. Too often though, he's sitting too deep. Again though, this isn't something that will get fixed by putting him on the bench.
I did not expect Fabian Johnson to get forward as much as he did. Ronaldo really did the US a favor by not popping up on the left very often. It gave Johnson the freedom to go forward more and attack their replacement LB.
Jermaine Jones again had a pretty good game - even if you don't consider his goal. The yellow card he was given was harsh - perhaps given more on reputation than the severity of the foul itself.
I'm encouraged by how Klinsmann has managed this team so far. I think he has been making the right moves to put the team in the best positions to do well. If there's one thing I'm worried about heading into Thursday it's the short turnaround between this game. The other teams that have played in Manaus haven't fared well in the following game. The US and Portugal will be playing their next game on shorter rest than any of the other teams that had to do it. While the US controls their own destiny, I'm also worried about the next game for Portugal. They are a depleted side going up against a tough and athletic Ghana side. Ghana are the team best positioned to sneak in ahead of the US and the goal difference makes the margin for error thinner than I'd like going into a game against a powerful team like Germany.
For people that are new to this soccer thing - if you thought today or even four years ago was nerve-wracking, just wait until you're watching two games simultaneously on Thursday. Medicate yourselves accordingly.
