2014 FIFA World Cup - Brazil

Jermaine Jones was immense. He was my MOTM. He's certainly not the ideal player you want on the left side of midfield, but he held the ball well, and save Beasley's bacon many times when he was caught out of position or otherwise being abused by Atsu. I've been a critic of his, so I tip my cap for this performance. I spent most of the second half wishing that they could have moved him to a true CDM role and either in place of or alongside Beckerman. The way he was performing on the left and the way Beasley made it such a necessity for him to be there made that impossible though.

Just to comment further on this... when it became clear that they were going to go with Bradley, Beckerman and Jones all at once I wasn't sure what to think, but, it sort of worked out really well against Ghana since you knew 3 MF's were going to be going forward for them regularly (well, that's what I thought until we found out Essian and Boateng weren't starting). Anyway, my point is that I'm not always a Jones fan, either, as things tend to go wrong when he freelances, but, it seems that They've tasked him with having Beasley's back as his first priority. And well, Beasley scares the hell out of people but, they got it done.

As for Beasley he did get forward a few times, and I'm hoping that using him there and causing me heartburn pays off against Portugal, especially with Altidore out.
