2014 FIFA World Cup - Brazil

So... I've seen that ESPN and Landon Donovan are already manufacturing controversy. This is pathetic... all over Klinsmann saying that it's unrealistic to think the the US could win the World Cup. Just forget for a moment that Klinsmann is 100% correct. It's a common tactic throughout the rest of the world for a manager dealing with the press to deflect pressure from his team in this manner. Nobody ever really bats an eye at it. Instead of dealing with this intelligently though, we have ESPN using the benign comments as a way to rile up casual fans and jingoistic American Outlaw troglodytes.

I get the feeling most of Donovan's analysis is going to consist of second-guessing and passive-aggressive shots at Klinsmann. It's going to be sub-Wynalda drivel and ESPN is going to milk it for all they can get from it. Ugh.

Posted this in the Gaming thread here just thought I'd leave it here as well.

Just created a 2014 FIFA World Cup Pick'em group on Yahoo! for anyone interested. I figured since most of the fantasy sports and pick'em's on here are done through Yahoo! I'd follow suit. Just follow the link if you're interested. Click on "Join a Private Group" and put in the Group ID# and password and you're all set. If you'd like me to send you an email invite, I can do that as well, just let me know.

Just keep in mind that you don't have to make all of your picks at once. The deadline for each game is five minutes before kickoff. Picking the score brings a new twist into things. Its Yahoo! default scoring and there's no ability to change it at all unfortunately. I still kind of like the scoring system though, minus the whole third place game nonsense.
