Rather than waste a time out, Carolina should've kicked a FG to make it a 2 score game. It's a long shot either way, but I'm a believer in playing the percentages. They exist for a reason.

So they run a fade on 4th down and the pass sails out of bounds.

Not a fan of fades in general, unless you've got a Dez Bryant or Randy Moss on the other end of it.

He may have gotten kicked (inadvertently) in the leg by the defender. You could fracture a fibula that way.
