OSU is traveling to the Bahamas this summer to play some exhibition games, thanks to the NCAA allowing a foreign tour for basketball teams once every four years. OSU last went on a trip prior to the 2009-2010 season, traveling to nearby Canada. The idea behind allowing these foreign tours is to allow the players to experience another culture/country and gives them extra practice time in the summer to prepare and some game action as well. OSU could have had one last year, but this year is a better choice for it since now freshmen can participate (they didn't use to be able to do that until about 4-5 years ago) and the Buckeyes have four true freshmen to incorporate into their team. This foreign trip could be the first public performance in a Buckeye uniform for no fewer than six players (Temple transfer Anthony Lee, redshirt freshman Kameron Williams, and freshmen D'Angelo Russell, Keita Bates-Diop, Jae'Sean Tate, and David Bell). With such a large transition in personnel, it is a great opportunity to get a jump start on the upcoming season.
Interestingly, there are 13 or 14 college basketball teams that are taking a trip to the Bahamas this August, and Andy Katz summarized the notable teams on the link below. Per his report, OSU will be playing on August 7th and August 8th.
