Game Thread 2014 B1G Championship Game: tOSU vs. Wisconsin, Dec. 6, 8:17 PM ET, FOX

so i just got done cleaning up all the peices of my AT&T Uverse remote that died when it connected with my living room wall after that horrendous call of targeting by Corey Smith...what a bunch of [Mark May] that was...anyways GO BUCKS

Hope they don't charge too much to replace remotes, 'cause now, you know, you're gonna have to smash one during the next game, too. Just for luck.

Folks, whatever you did yesterday, that's your new gameday routine. The underwear you wore yesterday? That's your new lucky underwear. Did you go commando? That's a rhetorical question, but guess what? You're now gonna be free ballin' on New Year's Day. Did you drink a different kind of beer or order pizza from a different place? You know what you gotta do.

I have to come spend more time in the Florida Keys? Well that sucks, doesn't it?

So, you are saying I have to watch the playoff games at my niece's two-year old birthday party? I guess I'll see if I can get my brother-in-law and his wife to agree to throwing her two more this year.

But I only get one birthday a year! :frown:

After hearing Urban talking about wanting an angry team for 3 years, I finally saw it Sat night - and it was magnificent. They played like Wisconsin had soiled their mamas, sisters, and girlfriends. It's amazing how the right emotion at the right level can get good players to play great collectively.

During the pre-kick interview with Urban, I told our party members, "He has the look of a man that knows something big is about to happen." He talked about the team being close and that they would help Cardale. Uh, I believe him.

In short, I was orgasmic - in the figurative sense - throughout the game, although when I saw the Kate Upton commercial it could have become literal.

After that beating I was wondering whether Wisconsin would announce that they are canceling their football program. That was a can of whoopass the likes of which I haven't seen opened up on somebody in a good while.

My honest opinion is: that beatdown is what Indiana and Minnesota just barely escaped, and I'm glad they saved their best for when they needed it. It was death an destruction in all phases of the game. In all honesty, it looked like Ohio State vs Florida in Glendale, AZ, and then some. One team was fast, physical, and determined. One team was completely unprepared for what was in store.

Was at the game and haven't had the chance to rewatch anything but highlights, but my impression was that the Buckeyes took control and didn't slow down for any of the speed bumps. Against Minnesota, we watched OSU start fast then slowed down for the Gophers to catch up. We saw the same thing against Indiana. There were opportunities to demoralize both those teams and it didn't happen. The ball didn't bounce OSU's way, the competitor made a couple plays, or OSU made a couple mistakes. What you saw was Ohio State coming in fired up, prepared, and executed with precision and focus. Not only did they execute better, and possibly because they executed better, the lucky breaks were on Ohio State's side.

  • Silver Bullets - they were back last night. 0 points. Turnover after turnover. The hits, oh my, the hits. Wisconsin was so mentally damaged that balls that could be caught were dropped. It's not like Wisconsin gave up; OSU just wouldn't give them an inch. Wisconsin players were literally picked up and slammed to the turf (in a non-personal-foul-causing way). I attribute most of the success to this defensive line. That's what we all expected all year. Rashad Frazier may be that missing piece on the end, I've seen what I need to see.

  • YA(Catch) and YA(Contact) - I've been critical of Tom Herman's offense because I believe it relies too heavily on the deep ball. He wants to make them pay. The nice thing is when the calls work, there is nothing more effective at scoring points and deflating the opponent than the long ball. Cardale's first pass was ill advised, but it's hard to overlook his past chemistry with Devin Smith. Where the Buckeyes needed to be more effective was with the intermediate game, with TEs and WRs and RBs. Well guess what, it happened. Michael Thomas caught the ball, broke tackles, and outclassed Wisconsin. Corey Smith looks elusive after the catch, which the first time he has been able to show it all year. Also speaking of Yards after Contact: Elliot would have had 100 yards after contact, but no one seemed to be able to contact him in the first place.

  • Make Plays - That's what good teams do. The system can only do so much. You make a contested catch. You grab an interception. You earn yards with an individual effort. That's what separates good teams from great teams. Florida State is where it's at because they have the ability to make a play when it's needed. Ohio State has started to make plays, not only when they are needed, but when they opportunity arises.

And now, WE GOT BAMA!
