2013 Week 10 B1G FB Open Thread

Let me rephrase: how corny. "Hey you kinda suck at football and got passed up by a sophomore as a fifth year senior, so go take the last kneel of the game vs michigan. Oh oh oh, but wait. Let's call a timeout to get you into the game before doing so."
Enh, OSU has done the same recognition for seniors, 2005 home finale vs Northwestern for sure. What's wrong with giving your soldiers some love?

In fact, we brought each guy off one by one during the commercial break.

Perhaps Urban's treatment of Guiton makes us forget Bauserman... or how a good kid like Zwick had to watch Troy win the Heisman, or how Todd Boeckman, worked for three years only to lose his job to some freshman. It's a tough game and those relegated to the bench do not go there lightly. Hats off to a coach who remembers to give them a moment in a big game.

Sorry, must have missed the game where urban called the timeout to have Kenny take the last kneel of the game. Maybe I didn't stress what I thought was lame about it strongly enough. If dantonio would have put him in for their entire last drive it would have been whatever for me. It was just the fact that he literally called a timeout just to have him in come in for one kneel. It'd be like calling a timeout with 0.5 seconds left just to bring in the 4th string walkon to pass the ball inbounds.

We haven't played Michigan or a bowl game yet. If either one is close enough through the first 55 minutes that Brax is still on the field, don't you think Urban would want to reward a kid who's done as much for the team as Kenny has?

The game was still in doubt when they made their last drive.

...and If I were the 4th string walk on I'd be pleased that I once got to take a knee in front of a huge crowd in my team's biggest game. I suspect that the MSU ex-QB felt as I would.

I understand that it was clumsy, but the point is the coach remembered the kid and HONORED him - and honored the QB he replaced.

Their last drive started with 2:09 and Michigan had no timeouts, down 29-6. Their final drive consisted of 3 kneels........the first 2 with the starting qb, and then a last second timeout to get the senior qb in? Idk, we could talk about it all day, but in my eyes it was lame. Like I said in my previous post, if he put him out there for the entire final "drive," whatever. So kind of like what you said, it was clumsy, awkward, and IMO lame. It's ok to have different opinions.

The Michigan St coaches and players were really feeling themselves after that game, judging by their quotes. Rightfully so, I guess, considering the butt whipping they put on the skunk weasels, but still, we will see what happens when the bully starts to get bullied in Indianapolis.
