Austin NBC station runs news promo during overtime, misses winning goal - Deadspin

It's not exactly Heidi, but a major blunder by Austin, Tex. NBC affiliate KXAN deprived Lone Star State hockey fans the sudden-death goal that clinched Game 4 for the Blackhawks.

That a morning news promo—and a bit of a Kia ad and something featuring R. Lee Ermey—showed up at just the wrong time makes it pretty perfect. Perfect for us, at least, who are fortunate enough not to live in Austin. [KXAN]

Amazing playoffs, yet, hockey will remain a distant 4th in the hearts of American sports fans. Sad.

Yep...such is the power of espin and the incompetence of Buttman.

At least NBC seems somewhat committed top bringing the sport back into the spotlight a bit....

that said...at least it wasn't the Penguins....

I think Sports Illustrated's media critic said 'SportsCenter' went like 37-39 minutes the other day prior to talking hockey and had multiple look-ins with Tim Legler and Jon Barry (NBA talk) prior.

I'm interested in seeing how FOX Sports 1 covers sports daily in August.

Monday's finish was 'Smash and Grab' at its finest. Looking at the security guards in the corners/behind the Boston goal during the 17-second span was interesting (one looked like he threw something).
