I hate the idea of a "recruiting title". It's like being dealt a poker hand and declaring you have the best hand without seeing anyone else's cards.
Well if it's 5 card stud and you are dealt Ace through 10 of Spades you really don't need to see anyone else's hand to know you have the nuts

Your point though is very true.

tOSU is number one on Scout right now, with an Urban Meyer 4.0 average:

Not so fast, if townsend doesnt sign we fall back to two. It all comes down to the punter,

pretty sure that's false

I think someone on scout said he was worth 85 pts (cause he's only a 3*)

and OSU is 93 pts ahead of Mich in Scout

Now with Rivals/ESPN I have no idea

These class rankings are all cool and such but I would like to see a ranking based on filling holes with quality players... rather than just signing a bunch of 4 and 5 star players. I think UM did a great job filling our needs and that's all I need to know.

I agree, but it's still fun to look at imo..

btw, If I did the math and looked at the info right on Rivals, it wouldn't have any affect on Rivals either, if anything it bumps up the avg star rating since he is a 2* on Rivals, and worth 45 pts, would stay at #2

He's worth 139. He get 40 points for being a 3-star, but gets 99 points for being #2 at his position. Here's their system:

Team Rankings are a math formula that based on a player's rating and his rankings. 5-Star is a rating, No. 1 quarterback is his ranking.

5 Star = 200 points
4 Star = 120 points
3 Star = 40 points
2 Star = 20 points

The No. 1 player at a position is worth 100 points, counting down to the last ranked player at his position to 0.

For Example, assuming Scout ranks 100 quarterbacks.

5-Star, No. 1 QB = 300 points
4-Star, No. 10 QB = 210 points
3-Star, No. 50 QB = 90 points
2-Star, No. 75 QB = 45 points

The Team Rankings are compiled of the Top 25 players per class. Some teams will over-sign, but only 25 count towards the Team Rankings.

40 points for the 3 Star and a 50 point max for specialist rankings

so...

#2 Punter who is 3 stars = 85 points

From the Director of Scouting on Scout.com

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything or trying to act like it's some life or death thing we get a #1 ranking, because I believe it doesn't matter either, but I do like to talk about rankings cause it's fun..mostly cause bragging rights
