Not so fast....read some of the other ones:

NOTE: The following ratings are based on résumé only, not on the eye test. If the eye test was the basis for judgment, these ratings would be different. (Moreover, it’s not as though Oct. 1 rankings should be given much of any weight in a sane[r] college football world.)

No. 3-ranked Ohio State right now is the third-best team in the SEC. Alabama and Georgia have proven more to this point in the season (beating Texas A&M, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and LSU).

No. 3-ranked Ohio State right now is the second-best team in the Pac-12. Arizona State beat Wisconsin, which means Stanford has the higher-value win in a comparison with Ohio State.

No. 3-ranked Ohio State right now is the second-best team in the ACC. Clemson beat Georgia.

No. 3-ranked Ohio State right now is the best team in the Big 12. Oklahoma’s win over Notre Dame is not more impressive than Ohio State's win over Wisconsin

Pac 12: Ohio State is the third best team in the Pac 12. No disrespect to the Bucks, but the Pac 12 is the deepest conference in college football, and heretical as it may sound, possibly the best. Oregon and Stanford, right now, look a leg up on the Bucks.

SEC: Second best. I need to see someone knock off Alabama before I know it can be done. As for the rest, the Bucks would absolutely destroy Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M's defenses, the next best SEC teams. Oh, if only we could see it done. And before anyone drops out the talk of OSU's record vs the conference, understand that Urban Meyer is their coach, and he ran roughshod through the league.

AAC: Best. I feel for Louisville, because I don't know that I wouldn't take them head to head vs the Bucks, but OSU has done more to this point to give a better barometer on how good they are. ACC: Second. Tajh Boyd is one of the few out there better than Braxton Miller, and the Tigs have been better than assumed in the secondary. They hold this season's best win thus far over Georgia.

Big 12: Best. It's a down year across the plains, with only Oklahoma looking capable of carrying the league's flag. OSU would go all machete to weeds in this league

Ohio State right now is the best team in the SEC. Defense wins championships. Currently, the Buckeyes (18th) rank ahead of every SEC team in total defense except for Florida. Unless the Gators miraculously find some offensive firepower, they wouldn't have even a puncher's chance against OSU.

Ohio State right now is the second best team in the Pac 12. Playing against the toughest conference in the nation, the Buckeyes would likely lose at least one league game. Since Oregon is the most complete team in college football at this point in the season, I'll give them the nod over Urban Meyer's squad in what would be a matchup for the ages.

Ohio State right now is the best team in the Big 12. The Buckeyes are 279-0-1 all-time when scoring 35 or more points. That gives them a decided advantage in a Big 12-style shootout.

Ohio State right now is the best team in the ACC. Although Florida State and Clemson would certainly make it interesting, no team in the ACC has the firepower or the consistency to trade scores with the Buckeyes for 60 minutes.

It'll be interesting to see if Ohio State gets a chance to play for all the marbles this season. Based on the criterion above, the Buckeyes have certainly earned that right.

CFN has all of their writers assess how the Buckeyes would match up in every other conference. The consensus seems to be that they are 5th or 6th in the SEC, 2 to 3 in the PAC12, 2nd in the ACC, and 1st in the Big12. It'd be hard to argue otherwise based on the minimal body of work so far. The B1G needs to get their [Mark May] together in OOC/bowl games, because 4 crappy out of conference games do nothing to impress anyone.Doesn't help that tOSU didn't have a chance to show in a big bowl game last year.

in the SEC, I could see Ohio State finishing anywhere in the top 4-5 depending on schedule.
and I mean absolutely no disrespect by that.

a 1 loss team can finish 3rd any given year.
it all just depends on WHO the loss comes against.

With Bama's schedule, OSU would have absolutely have a shot at winning the conference (only A&M and LSU before getting to Atlanta).
With LSU's schedule, things get a bit tougher (UGA, A&M, Bama, and a Florida team that could show up any given week).

Right? I looked at CFN one time this off-season. I used to basically live on that site. I'm just shocked someone said they still look at CFN for actual content or relevant opinions. who knew?!?

Excuse me! You are on BUCKEYE Planet. You need to tell us how superior we are and that we would finish as Super Bowl Champions if you plan on staying here for long. :vrabel:

I'm the same. I used to check it daily but have looked at it maybe 3 or 4 times this season. It was a slow day at work and I ran out of work-safe content to read.

Nutriaitch, I've been wondering who y'all pissed off to get the league schedule you got? Bama gets the feather bed, and you got the bed of nails.

the common conspiracy:

SEC offices are in Birmingham and cater to Bama.
allegedly, the head of scheduling is a Bama grad (as is the head of officiating).

Bama's permanent East foe (Tennessee hasn't been good for a while), and they get to also feat on a bad Kentucky team cross division.
LSU, Bama's biggest threat, has Florida as our permanent foe, and also get to travel to UGA.

somehow, Bama also managed to get Ole Miss at home back to back years.
not that Ole Miss was a serious threat, but interesting that they got to skip a road trip within the division.

Probably had to ease up on Bama just to be fair to them. I mean... they have huge OOC contests with Georgia State AND Chattanooga. I don't think anyone could expect them to take on UGA or Florida as well or to travel to Oxford, Miss. I mean.. that's all the way over in Mississippi. Like 165 miles away.. that's nearly... 2.5 hours buy car, for god's sake. I know you don't like anyone in the SEC but the Bayou Bengals, but I think you're being a little to hard on Bama here.

Early BCS data: Tide and Ducks at top, Ohio State in sixth

Ohio State's computer rankings are pretty abysmal early on, and that's not a big surprise if you look at their schedule so far. The Buckeyes have played one FCS team (1-3 Florida A&M), two 1-3 FBS teams, plus 2-2 Buffalo and 3-2 Wisconsin. Only one of those games was on the road, although not all of the BCS computers consider that.
Things should get somewhat better after the Northwestern game this weekend, which is on the road. That's assuming Ohio State wins.
