You can see Harvard is outmanned. They are afraid to put up simple layups anyone on Ohio State would put in with ease (with maybe an and 1). Yet Harvard is still leading. It has to make me wonder what the supposed experts saw in this New Mexico team. That guy in the middle is nothing more than a slow plodding tall guy that always does well against poor competition, but once he goes up against anyone with any athleticism near his height he will get destroyed. I don't even see a D league prospect on this New Mexico team, let alone a NBA prospect.

Well, to be fair it's hard to get momentum going when you're playing a team like Harvard that plays stall ball. But no doubt New Mexico shouldn't have been as popular a F4 pick as they were. I believe Nate Silver was the one who wrote about what traits a "pretender" has for a #1 seed, #2 seed, and #3 seed, any one of the traits basically means the team isn't going to make the F4. I didn't even look through them all, and there were 2 of them that NM had. They don't have the pedigree, they haven't had the marquee recruits, like you said they don't have anybody who has developed into a lotto pick ... not sure what the analysts thought. I guess they wanted to be contrarian and thought maybe NM was due? Or maybe Alford was due since he hasn't had a S16 team since 1999?

Thankfully Harvard can hit the 3, because otherwise they would have no offense.

And promptly they get a couple buckets inside the arc to extend the lead, of course.

NM is doing a poor job defensively. For a team that supposedly was strong on D, they're not taking Harvard out of their comfort zone. Soft post D by Kirk to let the Harvard "big" man to show his moves inside.

Alford is the dumbest motherfucker on the face of the earth. If you are a head coach, and you see candy-assed frog-lite doing one thing well, and you don't have the 3 brain cells it takes to switch up your defense to stop it, why the fuck are you even there? He is the Rich Rodriguez of basketball.

Wow, the refs with a bailout foul to put Harvard at the FT line up 4, at the under 4 TO. Looked like a gift of a call there - there would've been many more fouls in the B1G with officiating like that.

Harvard has gotten Duke-level calls the entire second half. Still doesn't change the fact that Alford is a brainless fucksalad.

Yeah for a guy that takes 90% of his shots from 3, Rivard for Harvard has been wide open way too often. And it was because Alford doesn't want to go small to match or get his guy to stop helping off him.
