With Barkley, I agree with Sports Illustrated in ranking him No. 2 (behind Bill Simmons) in their ranking of on-air people.

He doesn't come off as "trolling" or a caricature like a Mark May, Skip Bayless or Stephen Smith. Barkley just seems to say what he's thinking -- at least on TNT with the NBA -- even though it's sometimes delusional or misguided.

I love Barkley because he is unfiltered, which is quite hilarious most of the time. With that comes his Sec bias and natural disdain for the B1G.


If if viewed him as an analyst and not a comedian, or if he behaved that way, I might care more when his shenanigans take a shot at the conference. Instead I just accept it as part of the package.

Btw, his on air message to his mom about picking up curtains after the dunk contest was hilarious.

Barkley whiffed on the Mountain West but he did call out the committee on the PAC 12 that night, and picked accordingly.

Hmmm...looks like bad Wiscy showed up today. Ole Miss couldn't buy a basket the first 10 minutes and they still lead.

Right, its absolutely fine because he says he's an SEC homer up front. And its I think a joke to him when he's all pro-Auburn Basketball (Not this year, but when he does get to mention it) I mean, he's an NBA guy, really, and who from Auburn has ever been any good in the League outside of him and the Person brothers? I'm drawing a blank. :lol:

As to all this mountain West love, I mean, that started spawning itself with all the RPI BS, I mean, 25% of that is reord, so sooner or later the back 25% (opponents opponents, or whatever) shoudl trend to some midline, and I think in this case it got self reinforcing for them.... and its one of those things where you go and look at the talent on those teams, then look at say the PAC-12 and you have to ask yourself why there's a disconnect.. that didn't happen, obviously. I mean, New Mexico got beat last night, that wasn't luck.

Barkley should stick to commenting on things that he is an expert on, like whores and tattoos:

I agree with Winslow's take on Charles. He's pure schtick, and I enjoy it. Others, however, take it as legitimate and valid analysis. For their sake, I want this ridiculous notion that the a mid-major was the strongest conference to die a firey death.

And it pretty much has. 1-3 on opening night, including 3 and 5 seeds getting upset. SDSU againt Okie is pretty much a tossup, so they are staring a high likelihood of going 1-4 in the first round and having their sole survivor dispatched by Louisville on Saturday.

I don't get Ole Miss going to a zone. If Wisconsin has one thing, it's a couple of good spot-up shooters in Brust & Dekker, as well as a couple other decent guys.

What mismatch are they trying to avoid?

I'm not sure. But it took Wisconsin a while to figure out they needed to get the ball inside. Now Ole Miss is back in man-to-man.

And Henderson shoots as often as advertised. It's Maravich-esque as far as the number of shots taken.
