2012 TSUN football news

For everyone counting at home (especially those in a tizzy over their other recruiting success), Michigan still has not addressed their painfully thin WR pool and will now wait on Treadwell for awhile.

WR Csont'e York has committed

**See? lol** Wide(out)ning the net

... that's what's happening wrt receivers, widening the net ... ... ... now that they've been out to schools and tested the water on their recruits, their shots at the top-ranked WRs are all perceived as long-ish ('cept for Treadwell) ... so the net is getting widened

And, with Treadwell, the far-far-away decision date makes him uncertain as well.

SO ... we see the York offer for ex ...

it's not a head-scratcher, no matter how many time people say it is ... it's
mainly a lack of top-notch MW wideouts who also have grades
... that list is ... one? (Which is why he knows he gets to play the field as long as he wants)

Plus, BTW, Borges is
not
nationally known, etc. (had any of us had heard of him when he was hired?) ... I'm not saying he isn't a savant, just that he doesn't have a national rep like that.

And yet we can not seem to get a game changing WR? What am I missing?

And this is no disrespect to any of the WR's on the team!
#3 WR James Quick has grades.
#12/19 WR Shelton Gibson has grades.
Robert Foster was never going to be a wolverine.
it's mainly a lack of top-notch MW WRs with grades, altho what you say is a factor as well ... U-M didn't beat anyone with a devastating passing attack last year
That's more like it.

P.S. Their once solid lead for Ty Isaac has now dwindled to the slimmest of margins, as USC has charged into major contention. Even the eternal homer (and half-teller) Sam Webb has been warning how close this thing is, while still maintaining a teensy lead.

Per Scout, here are the top 3 WRs to sign with UM since 2006: Toney Clemons (10th), Darryl Stonum (12th), Je'ron Stokes (17th)

None of those three finished on good terms with Michigan. Maybe the coaches are gun shy.
If you go back to 2005, you can add Antonio Bass to that list (9th), but they also landed Mario Manningham (7th) that year.

The biggest problem facing UM this year is that Junior Hemingway's name is not listed above. Without Hemingway, UM doesn't win the ND game or the Sugar Bowl.

Darboh is going to be a good, physical player. But agreed, it looks like UM's wide receiver corps is going to be "a bunch of guys."

They are going to be loaded at QB and RB though, as well as O-Line. I think their success against the rest of the B1G is going to hinge on how well they can transition from this Denard focused offense to a more balanced attack once he leaves.

the 2013 season will be interesting. Do you suffer through a year of Devin Gardner under center, or throw the true freshman into the fire........
