We've had one of these threads every year and even have one for 2013 but not one for 2012 for some reason...

Scout $ - Staff Hasn't Altered Recruiting Philosophy

11/16

Coach Peterson talks about how the program is bigger than any one person...Tyler Moeller talks about how he was recruited and how that relates to the HS kids today (and references the Kalis situation). Coach Haynes and Coach Johnson also talk about what it means to recruit for OSU.

For the '12 tOSU O-Line recruits (that aren't committed) we have: Davidson, Kozan and Diamond with offers.

After that, we are discussing an offer for Henry (or does he already have one?) and anyone else?

Query is: who are we likely to get, how many OL do we take?

I'd be content with Davidson, Kozan and Henry. Are those 3 likely to commit, etc. etc. Obviously I'd love Diamond. But are we going to take 3 more OL in a limited class?

I hope so. But perhaps not.

Any OL out there that people think deserve consideration?

Frankly, I don't get some people's optimism with regards to Diamond. Yeah OSU might seem to make a lot of sense to us given his recruitment but I have yet to hear the kid say anything that makes me think OSU is a serious contender.

Davidson is the anti-Barksdale when it comes to interviews. He is pretty much off the grid. Have to think OSU has a decent chance, but like with everyone else, a lot will come down to who is on staff. If my dream scenario of Urban as HC and Luke as DC/AHC works out, then OSU has a great shot with a lot of kids left on the board, Davidson included (and they would probably take another swing through Lakewood to make sure Kalis was 100% on signing with UM).

OSU seems to be in great shape with Kozan, but OSU made him wait and now I think he plans to make OSU wait. Can't blame the kid for wanting to visit LSU given the fact they offered long ago and have been recruiting him seriously.

Henry is a project but there are people who think he has one of the highest ceilings in Ohio if he develops. He does not have an OSU offer as of yet and I think the staff will wait and see what happens with the other guys first.

I was hoping OSU might at least take a look at Jake Meador from Indiana, who has been committed to Ole Miss for some time, but they have never really been in touch with him.

I understand that our WR development of late hasn't been spectacular, but what's with all the offers out to wideouts this year? We have Thomas, Lewis, Epitropolous(could be a S) commitments, with Stanford a possibility but we have at least two Miami commits visiting. Seems that we're spending an awful lot of time on WR when OL seems to be much more glaring of a need to be addressed IMO.

If the rumored change is true, do you see it having a major effect on the recruiting class, good or bad?

Thoughts?

We've seen it before, time and time again, how a program can build momentum with a coaching change...Michigan has done it twice in the last four years with RR and Hoke. Zook and Illinois. Muschamp and Florida. Kiffin at Tennessee/USC.

Meyer is a bigger name than any of those guys. He could only have a positive impact on this class, IMO. I don't see any of the current commits jumping ship if he comes on board, with the only possible exception being Dunn. And I think he might be able to get OSU in the game with a couple of big names down the stretch. It will be tough because recruiting is about relationships...and right now Meyer doesn't have a relationship with anyone outside of Spielman and a mic. Committed players aren't going to start all of a sudden flipping to OSU just because Meyer and a new staff are brought in. It will still be a tough battle to finish this class off strong.

Now 2013 on the other hand...
