2012 Special Teams Discussion - How special will they be?

I can't remember any season where I have seen 2 punts blocked and I mean by the other team. I don't know if Urban is trying to get too fancy with his blocking schemes in order to cover punts or what but I hope that I don't see another Ohio State punt blocked this season.

I love Rod Smith and Dunn on kickoffs because they bring both power and speed. Love that combo..

IIRC both of the punt blocks against us were the "New" formation. Probably need to keep that one on the sidelines...

Practice makes perfect

A week?s worth of work for the Ohio State punt-return unit paid off huge yesterday in the Buckeyes? win over Wisconsin yesterday.

Corey Brown received the glory, returning a Drew Meyer punt 68 yards for OSU?s first touchdown in the 21-14 overtime victory.

But on his second punt return for a TD this season, all Brown had to do was step forward and sprint straight down the field, especially after Taylor Rice cleared the way of the only would-be Wisconsin tackler. All of the other Badgers players that mattered had been blocked at the snap, and Brown weaved past Meyer near midfield.

?The holdup team did a really good job,? Brown said. ?We knew that we would be able to break one of these this week because of the scheme coach (Zach) Smith put together. Those guys went out there and gave 110 percent. I mean, anybody could have run through the hole. ? All I had to do was make one man miss.?
