2012 Pro Bowl: NFC -3.5 vs AFC (ov/un 74.5), Sun 7 ET, NBC

Wow. They still play this game? I thought being a "Pro Bowler" was just a title now.

Ya'Know, when I was a kid, "Pro Bowlers" were guys like Earl Anthony, Marshall Holman, and Johnny Petraglia. Never understood how profressional football All-Stars earned that title.

That being said, this game is what it is. It's an exhibition game, and nothing more. I figure these guys think it's more entertaining for those at the game and watching on TV to see a TON of offense, and I can't disagree.

This game is about young guys having a good time, and a football game happens to break out during the fun. To me, they should make it a flag football game, because after 16 weeks of getting your head bashed in, who needs one more?

Peace

The real reason this game was moved to the sunday before the Super Bowl is to do more SB promos. It's no accident that the network who gets the SB also gets the Pro Bowl that year.

If anyone can come up with a reason against eliminating this useless game that nobody watches, I'd love to hear it...

NFLPA spokesman George Atallah said Sunday via his Twitter account that the players don't want to lose the Pro Bowl from the annual schedule.
"The Pro Bowl is an important tradition; one that we as players want to keep."

Well then perhaps they should try playing like it is "important."

The Pro Bowl used to be a fun game to watch, back when the winner's share meant something to players who were working "real" jobs in the offseason. These days, with millionaires playing the game, they aren't going to kill themselves over $22,500.

There really isn't any way to fix it, given the nature of the sport and the money.

Read: "The players love the free trip to Hawaii every year."

How about we eliminate the game that nobody gives a shit about anyway, and bring back some of the skills competitions? You know, things that:
1) players would actually put effort into
2) presents no risk for injury
3) people want to watch

That sorry excuse for a game has been asking for a bullet to the head for some time now. Hopefully Goodell delivers it.

Where do I sign?

This is exactly what I was thinking about earlier. I just want the skills competition.
