2012 Final Four: tOSU -0.5 vs Kansas (ov/un 136.5) Sat 9:05 ET, CBS

Didn't hit some open shots and had some pretty crucial turnovers. I can't blame Matta for that.

About the big lead.. We had a big run, they had a big run. That's basketball. Gotta make big plays at the end when both teams are hungry. They made more.

He is a fantastic recruiter. 80% of being a great coach is getting great players. Note that I did not criticize that. It's widely known throughout the fan base that he struggles to make adjustments.

The gameplan is to work through Sullinger and DT. Yes. They take 33 shots and make 8... Your senior, one of the greatest scorers in OSU history, is on fire and shooting 60% from the field and from the 3 point line. You're allowed to change the offensive strategy.

I don't blindly support everything that happens with the team. You're allowed to be critical as a fan, it means you care. I'm embarrassed we have fans that call fellow fans out for providing their take on what we all just watched.

You didn't, you just ordered everyone to accept that we will never win a basketball NC after losing in the National semifinals. That's like saying we would never win another NC in football after we just beat Oregon in the Rose Bowl. It makes no [censored]ing sense.

At this point, I think I'm glad I didn't start paying much attention until the second half. I would probably be much more upset had I watched the large lead fall apart, although knowing we had that lead is almost as bad.

That's funny coming from somebody handpicking five games and saying that's more indicative than the entire season.

Look. Smith was under 35% for the first 10 games. He ended up over 60% for the season. It's pretty easy to see that to raise the percentage he shot a significantly higher percentage over the rest of the season.

Any moron can see that. I think.

Why the offense was run through Sullinger who had NOTHING for Withey is beyond me. You're going to let your senior go out like that? Buford was on FIRE and needed to have the ball every possession. I CRAVE better in game adjustments, but I think it's time to accept that a NC will never happen in this sport at this school under this regime.
A little extreme, don't you think? Matta has this program in a place it hasn't been since Fred Taylor was coach and that is something EVERY Buckeye fan should be grateful for (and thank Andy Geiger for hiring him). Now, should we expect a NC? No, but the state this program is currently in means Matta will have teams ready to compete at a high level in the Big Ten and nationally. All it takes is that one special year and unfortunately it wasn't this year. Winning 6 straight games in a tournament takes talent, perseverance, intensity and a little luck. OSU had all 4 throughout the tournament up until halftime but only had 1 of those in the second half... that doesn't cut it against a team like Kansas.

If you would have told me before the regular season finale against Michigan State that the Bucks would get to the Final Four I would have laughed in your face. The talent and potential were there but at that point in the season they were not playing as a team. They came together quickly to win that one in East Lancing and make a hell of a run in the tournament.

Mike Krzyzewski took 11 years at dook (and 16 overall) to win a title. He now has four.

Roy Williams took 17 years to get his first title.

Thad Matta has been here 8 years, and has coached 12 overall, and taken the program to heights it hadn't seen in decades. Write him off at your own peril.

He was 5 of 18 (27.8%) from the line the first six games of the season. He had a hitch in his shot which he fixed. This is the only reason his overall percentage was so low. Since the start of Big Ten play, he has shot 73.4%.

He's a great coach and recruiter. There's a difference between provided your take and letting your emotions get the best of you. Tonight wasn't perfect by any means, but to say we're never going to win because of tonight is just short-sighted. Pitino and Boeheim have two titles combined in about 60 years of coaching and they're both HOFer's. IT'S HARD.
