Using the betting decisions of a homer fanbase as a judgment of a bet is pretty foolish.

Only 2 people bet that OSU wouldn't win the title, and most of the rest thought they'd win it outright. That's why they say to never bet on games where you are emotionally invested.

I have a suspicion that if you had been prescient enough to place some vCash on the 3-way tie at 24-1, you'd have a real appreciation for the complexity of the way the vBet was constructed.
