Now, I wouldn't put a game @ Duke on the list at this point because that's a year-to-year call by ESPN. Perhaps it is likely that OSU will play @ Duke next year, but it's certainly not a given. The Challenge organizers can put whoever they want whenever they want, as long as there's a general balance to home/away for the conferences first and foremost, and the school over the long run.

Now, there were reports, first by Andy Katz, that revealed the rest of the "big dogs" in the the Uncasville, CT/Mohegan Sun tournament. They are Washington, Seton Hall and Rhode Island. So potentially a big game with Washington is there early next season - definitely something to look forward to (though facing URI Nation may be difficult).

When I start thinking of this schedule, I've got to start with the Kansas home game, because that's the only lock big game at this point, then there are a couple likely marquee matchups that aren't 100% - @ Duke (or perhaps @ UNC) in the Challenge and vs. Washington on a neutral court in Connecticut. There should be another big name for a home & home in there to replace South Carolina (I view the Washington tournament as replacing Florida on the sched).

Not sure where else to put this but is there any chance that Matta does a Midnight Madness type of event? I would really like to see this.

Maybe the dunk contest between Thompson and JD that we are all hoping to see?

Was mad we didn't have a Midnight Madness THIS year because of that.

I will be interested in seeing who OSU plays first there. I would expect they would "try" to match up OSU and Washington in the final, but things don't always go according to plan. It is impossible to determine who will be better between Seton Hall and URI at this point. As long as you don't have "URI nation" coming down on you, it's all good.

After reviewing it a little more, I'd definitely prefer at this point to see OSU matched up with Seton Hall and Washington. Rhode Island is at the very bottom of the A-10, and while they expect to lose only one player off this team they are still very bad this year - they could improve a lot and be better than Seton Hall next year (especially since SHU loses by far their best two players in Pope and Theodore), but it is not likely. I'm not sure Seton Hall is going to be respectable next year without their two studs, but it's more likely that they will at least be able to give OSU a tough game than URI. But again, you never know how good these teams will be before they are put together and play. Each team will have new players that could change their outlook dramatically.

According to Bob Baptist, Matta said on his radio show today that they will play Rhode Island in the first game at the Hall of Fame Tipoff in November. Rhode Island just fired their coach after going 7-24. They might be a name team, but they are a cupcake in a name team's clothing.

I'll be shocked if we play someone else, somewhere else, after the monumental ass kicking the Bucks laid on the Dookies in our house. It's extremely promotable for ESPN, and I'm guessing Duke will want it.

I don't think it matters what Duke wants. The ACC liaison will have input with ESPN, but it's not like Duke gets "Pretty Woman" authority in this one (i.e., they don't get to say who, they don't say when, and they don't say how much). I can see ESPN matching up OSU and another team like FSU or UNC, because that matchup may be more attractive depending on what happens in the NCAA tournament.

But let's be realistic on this... Those are the ONLY options the ACC has to offer for Ohio State. FSU is quite a stretch though. I think it'll be just like this season:

MSU-UNC
Dook-OSU
