A look at the four Ohio State quarterbacks who will compete to start in place of the suspended Terrelle Pryor in the fall (in order of seniority, with eligibility as of fall):
Joe Bauserman
6 FEET 1, 233 POUNDS FIFTH-YEAR SENIOR
Played in 23 career games, but only twice not in mop-up duty. He has a strong arm but also is mobile. Has completed 25 of 47 passes for 320 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The pick came on an ill-advised throw when he replaced an injured Pryor briefly in a tight game at Illinois this season.
Kenny Guiton
6 FEET 2, 190 POUNDS REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE
Played in five games last year, completing 1 of 2 passes for 5 yards, with an interception. Elusive out of the backfield, he had a 15-yard rushing TD vs. Eastern Michigan.
Taylor Graham
6 FEET 4, 225 POUNDS REDSHIRT FRESHMAN
Sat out last season. The pocket passer, the son of former OSU QB Kent Graham, had an injury-plagued high-school career in Wheaton, Ill.
Braxton Miller
6 FEET 2, 185 POUNDS FRESHMAN
Named Ohio's Division I offensive player of the year this past season at Huber Heights Wayne. A dual-threat QB who has a strong arm, he already is enrolled for winter quarter.

Quarterback next year

Now that the Sugar Bowl is over I thought fans would immediately turn to recruiting. I see some serious interest but the way Jim Tressel and his staff do things there is so little to pay attention to. They get it done early for the most part then try to pick up a few players later with honest to goodness hard work. So much of recruiting that is done this late is smoke and mirrors and flat out cheating. That is something you will not see this staff do. Picking up a couple of national players this late in the process in linebacker Ryan Shazier and cornerback Doran Grant is nothing short of a coup. Any of the others that come in, elite linebacker Curtis Grant or national top ten receiver Ja'Juan Story to name the players at the top of my want list, are just gravy. Fans seem to realize this as the attention has turned to what is going to happen in the fall with the spots opened up by the suspensions of five players, four being starters. There is one that stands above them all. That would be who steps in for Terrelle Pryor.
Unlike in the past there are really solid options to step into the quarterback spot. Ohio State has not been a quarterback school. Ohio has not been a quarterback producing state. That is the basis of all recruiting. Instate talent. Kids that want to come to a school because they love that school. They imitated players from that school growing up. It doesn't matter whether they were pro players or not. As kids those players were their heroes. I am talking about players like Braxton Miller.
