An early prediction of the predictions.

CFN

One other thing to remember here, these are NOT the CFN rankings. This is what we THINK they're going to be and not a ranking of the best teams going into the year.

1. Oklahoma
2. Oregon
3. Alabama
4. LSU

5. Ohio State
Call this the default pick. Ohio State will be one of the five best teams in the country. It might just take a little while to get there.

6. South Carolina

7. Oklahoma State
8. Stanford
9. Texas A&M
10. Florida
11. TCU
12. Boise State
13. Nebraska
14. Arkansas
15. Wisconsin
16. Notre Dame
17. Florida State
18. Texas
19. Auburn
20. Mississippi State
21. Michigan State
22. Missouri
23. West Virginia
24. Georgia
25. Virginia Tech

Cont'd ...

Does somebody know something about Texas A&M that I don't?

Not surprised Oklahoma is #1. They have several great players coming back. SEC is going to come down to Alabama/LSU out of the west. Both teams should have 2 of the best defenses in the country.

Lesticles at number 4....that dude has a bag with all the good stuff:

  • Lucky Rabbit Foot
  • Fifteen leaf clover
  • Some Leprechaun stashed somewhere
That dude is lucky as hell.

'Skers at 13? Perfect position, I think. I bet against us when we're in the preseason top ten, lol.

Okie State may have a tough go at it. They lost their offensive coordinator this past off-season.

Watching Texas this past weekend, they're gonna be lucky if they're not starting another frosh at QB (Colt's little brother Case). Gilbert looks like Rob Johnson out there - all the tools but throws nothing but picks.

2. Oregon
There might be plenty of holes to fill on defense, but the offense should be stronger, better, and if it's possible, even faster with the return of RB LaMichael James and QB Darron Thomas. The Ducks will get several first place votes.

What the fuck is it with the media's obsession with speed? Oregon's speed offense has been stone-walled by solid defenses the last two BCS games they've been in.

I have to agree. I despise the Spread offense being run all the time. Line up in the I, and smash the hell outta the guy across from you.

You guys, Wisconsin, Alabama and LSU run some similar stuff and it almost always works for you.

Oregon's going to have a badass offense!! zomg!!!

I could give two shits until they field a defense actually capable of stopping a remotely decent offense. ( BCS title being a wash)

But yeah, Oregon has become the new Oklahoma. No matter how piss poor their season finale - they'll be right back in the top 5 and beating Portland State by 50 points.

Losing by 9 in the Rose Bowl and 3 on a last second play in the NC game isn't what I'd call piss poor. Not sure if that PSU remark is a jab at UO's quality of schedule or them supposedly "running it up" on lesser opponents but they'll get a chance to prove themselves early against LSU.

not sure i would put us in the top 5 just yet.

we have the potential to be really effing good, and maybe make a run at the NC.

but we're going into the season opener against the NC Runner-up with either a JUCO transfer who has never been in a D1 game, or Jordan Jefferson as our QB.

I think the new offensive coordinator will improve our passing game (can't get a whole lot worse). And who knows, maybe we'll see an actual improvement in JJ this year.

Our leading receiver, runner, pass rusher, linebacker, and DB/KR/PR are all gone.

Randle should be a solid replacement at WR
Ware looks to probably get the bulk of the work at RB
DL is loaded with young guns
LB is a question mark until I see otherwise
Secondary should be loaded as well.

You could also look at it this way:
SEC has 2 in the top 5
3 top six
4 in top 10
8 in top 25

Big 10 has 1 in top 5 -- and that team plays five games without several stars
3 in top 15
4 in top 25

Multiple implications -- among them will be OSU won't play anybody in conference that will give them a big ratings/BCS boost.

Add where Boise and TCU start and they will be in "guaranteed BCS Bowl" territory before week three of the season.

I dont' think it's fair, but the media is going to attempt to murder tOSU's chances at the beginning of the season. Why? Because of the off field issues. They do it to teams every year. It's their perfect bait - they reel us in with a decent ranking. We get used to being on top for a while, then when hard times come about, they yank on the rod, set the hook, and we're lunch, LOL

I know this is an unofficial poll, but I think that preseason rankings are the equivalent of

979879_o.gif

They'll probably rank you guys in the top 10, then if you win poorly or lose, they'll kick the feet from under you and make you fall hard.

That's the way they do it. Teams they don't want to be successful (and know aren't too good), they rank higher, and when they don't have a good showing, they kill you in the polls, messing up the chances to get to the BCS championship game.

Guess they want to hog all the ti*ty bars and lavish gifts to themselves, LOL.
