2011 NFL Draft (Mocks, Eval, etc)

Look I love Cam as much as anyone, but I don't know that he;s going to be some dominant force on the DL...hell Pittsburgh doesn't really even look for those. They want strong, quality guys who do their jobs to free up the freakish LBs...that I'm sure he can do. He'll fit in there very well, but I don't know that he would have been a real impact backbone guy for the Browns either. And the Ratbird is an off field headache waiting to happen too.

I think he has the right coach in Pittsburgh to put him in a position to excel.

Lebeau and his Ohio State ties did his homework and wanted him, that says a lot to me. I think he will move around and be a great pass rusher in nickle situations.

I don't get how a massive load at DT won't fit in, just because it isn't a 3-4 doesn't mean a huge space-eater won't be useful. I think he'll end up being fine. Holmgren and Heckert are smart guys and have done good things in the past with drafts, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

They weren't going to contend next year anyways.

Fit in? Yeah, certianly there's a role there. But I don't like the wisdom of making that the first role addressed, espeically when we have no pass rushers and we already have Rubin in the middle, as basically our only established lineman. I don't like starting there.

I agree, I think he'll be good in Pittsburgh...better in fact than he would with most other teams.

I prefer DT's in a 4-3 to be more disruptive and penetrate more than just be a space eater.

That guy from temple is an impressive player. I wonder if the staff would have stuck at 27 knowing he would be available, or if they prefered Taylor that much more over him.

There are still pass rushers available, very deep draft for that.

Bowers is still there, and looking at who is in front of the Browns, it's very possible that he could end up in Cleveland still.

Minnesota's two d tackles are a combination of an athletic DT and a huge space eater. It's incredibly useful if you can get the disruptive DT. I like the strategy. I don't know much about the player, but the strategy is fine with me.

I think if they liked him at all they would have waited and taken him at 27. I don't think they'll touch him tomorrow, even if he's there.

I think they had their eyes on Taylor the whole time. They clearly valued him more than Bowers, so I wouldn't put much into them not taking him in the first round.

I'm probably wrong, you guys have a better gauge on the Browns than I do. Just how I see it from an outsiders perspective (even though I follow the Browns a pretty decent amount).

I'm just going by what they said earlier about teams in the upper first round not clearing him medically. I have the feeling the Browns don't want him in the first 2 rounds because of his knee. Otherwise he was a steal at 27.

He is exactly what this team needed. Happy Who Dat here.

As you should be...the very best thing that team could do is get a stud power rusher like Ingram to eat carries and push Bush back to his HB/WB/WR/KR/PR hybrid buttsocket role.

Fun fact:

If you include Nebby in the Big 10, we tied the SEC for most 1st round draft picks.

My biggest issue is you basically have the same player at DT now. At least the Williams co. has versatility. Pat and Kevin Williams can get after the QB from the DT position. Phil Taylor was credited for 2.5 sacks last year....not really elite numbers you want to see from a first round pick at DT.

I'd have preferred Drake Nevis from LSU by a wide-margin and at a better value in the second round. Plus the Browns would then have one space-eater and one guy who can penetrate on thirs down up the middle in Nevis.

I'm hopeful Cleveland takes a long look at these player sin the second round:

  • Brandon Harris
  • Bruce Cooper
  • Leonard Hankerson
  • Drake Nevis
  • Martez Wilson
