2011 NCAA Tournament Projections/Bracketology

I agree. I know I'm not the first to say it, but I have a hard time thinking Smith being the head of the committee doesn't hurt OSU--as if the committee tries so hard to avoid the appearance of impropriety that OSU gets a raw deal when it comes to the brackets. OK, removing tin foil hat now...

Well, that and Smith has to spend all of his political capital these days defending the football team. :(

Once is a coincidence, twice is a trend and this is the second year in a row we get jammed into the toughest bracket. Somethings not right.

Maybe Nike offered him some more money and a cool retro uniform game to take on a harder bracket?

Twice isn't much of a trend. Besides, the last 4 teams in our bracket last year were tOSU, Tennessee, Northern Iowa and Sparty. The top 3 seeds went down the first weekend - so maybe it wasn't so tough after all - and it was there for the taking. We just didn't take it.

This year's draw looks tough but I wouldn't give the committee enough credit to think they were out to get us. I just think they're really not that great at assessing teams. They got blasted last night for a reason.

It was mostly tongue in cheek. I agree, its just a bad flip of the coin a couple times in a row. Does suck though.

I said somewhere in one of these threads that last year I thought they were corrupt for giving Duke that bracket. This year I know they are just incompetent. :wink2:

Being the #1 overall is also supposed to confer some venue/location advantages. I'm thinking that drawing Syracuse in New Jersey is not advantageous.

What sucks is Newark is the closest one to us, by far. The other choices are Anaheim, New Orleans and San Antonio. None of those sites would be very advantageous for us.

I do think they could've given us BYU as the 3 seed, but I suspect they didn't want to put Syracuse in Pitt's region due to conference affiliation. Our other choices for 3 seeds were Purdue (wasn't going to happen, same reason as Pitt-Syracuse), and UConn. That would be the same dilemma as Syracuse. Unless, of course, they made Florida a 3 seed in our region.

im finding this as one of the hardest brackets to fill out than years past, this field is pretty damn wide open.

Yeah. I'm worried my bracket will be blown to shit by Friday night instead of Saturday this year. :(

I know that BYU could only be in the Thursday - Saturday bracket because of religious restrictions (Can't play on Sunday) so that may have factored into things.

I forgot about that but it has been mentioned as an issue in the past.

It is what it is. Our guys can play with anyone in the field, anywhere, so let's get this party started.

Agree. Also, keep in mind that it doesn't really matter who the 2 and 3 are in our bracket because only one of them will move on. The best part of March Madness is that the best team over 6 games wins. Let's see what our guys can do...

Go Bucks!
