2011 NCAA Tournament Projections/Bracketology

This is one of the most oddly seeded/matched brackets I've ever seen. Were they passing around the Grey Goose?

Pitt has a red carpet layed out for them, but given their history, I suspect they'll get bounced before the Final 4.

Kansas State as a 5 seed got a ton of mileage out of beating KU. Colorado went 3-0 versus K State, has almost an identical overall record, and they got left out.

The loss @ Iowa St did them in, but Christ they won two games in the B12 tournament. Feel really bad for the seniors and coach Boyle at CU..they deserved to be in.

Southeast is definitely the easiest region.

Agreed. And I think the Southwest is the toughest, at least among the top-4 teams in each region.

Last year I complained about tOSU's region being hard and Duke's being easy. I think the East and West brackets are both fair this year.

Also, for those not browsing the fourm, the vBets for each of the 4 regions are already done.

There's no doubt in my mind that Kentucky is a better team than Florida (based on the entire season and the fact that Kentucky just beat Florida). Kentucky ends up a four seed in the region belonging to the overall #1 seed; Florida gets a two seed in the region of the 3rd #1 seed. The decisions of the selection committee seem to get worse and worse each year.

USC has no business in this tournament.

They beat Texas and lost by 1 at Kansas. Those two games got them in, despite losing 13 more games. Not saying it's right but I can't see any other reason.

On the other hand, they play in the perhaps the weakest of the six power conferences and couldn't crack 20 wins in spite of that.

Sure its already been pointed out but thats what the SEC, B10 and ACC champs in the same bracket?

SE bracket is far and away the easiest.

Last year I thought they did it out of a love for Duke, now we know they are just incompetent.

The problem with Pitt is that they're always one of the most physical teams in the Big East (maybe the most physical most years), and the Big East is officiated waaaay more leniently than any other conference in the country. Living in DC now, I watched a fair amount of Big East basketball this season. It's unbelievable to me how much contact is allowed in that conference. Problem being, once Pitt gets into the tourney, they want to keep playing that physical brand of basketball, and quickly find that their good defense = lots of fouls everywhere else.
