Just because someone participated yesterday doesn't necessarily mean that he can't redshirt. Just FYI.

Saw that Steve Miller was credited with a tackle, per the dispatch box score.

Crowell's for sure going to redshirt. He's still recovering from off-season surgery.

11 freshmen played vs Akron. Wowwie.

This came up during the game.

Nope.

Each student is allowed no more than four seasons of competition per sport. If you were not a qualifier, you may have fewer seasons of competition available to you. You should know that NCAA rules indicate that any competition, regardless of time, during a season counts as one of your seasons of competition in that sport. It does not matter how long you were involved in a particular competition (for example, one play in a football game, one point in a volleyball match); you will be charged with one season of competition.

You may be thinking of a medical redshirt - the rule is less stringent there, but it's only applied after a successful petition at the end of the eligible years. Hopefully nobody's in a position to need one of those.

Good point and hopefully there is no medical redshirts on the horizon. I guess one could take a redshirt after their 1st or 2nd year as well ala Sabino, but that is fairly rare.

Looks like we have several candidates for the "Cameron Heyward Award".

Used to be that serious contribution from a true Frosh on the DL was a rarity. Each of the last four seasons - starting with Cam - we have had stellar contribution from a new counter.

Cam
Williams
Simon
Hankins

Who will it be this year? I'm liking Bennett.

Interesting that no one has mentioned the 13th freshman (at least not in the game notes), but sometimes a second view reveals a lot.
