2011 Big Ten Tournament, March 10-13

Does anyone remember the other epic low-scoring game that PSU won recently? That was their win in '09 at Illinois, a 38-33 snoozefest.

God, the Big Ten can't get rid of Ed DeChellis soon enough.

On the bright side, with the only other teams in the conference who finished above .500 in league play both eliminated today, all OSU has to do now is beat a pair of teams that finished 9-9 in the Big Ten in order to win the conference tournament - easier said than done, I'm sure.

If Sparty plays defense (assuming they beat the Nittany Kitties) on Sunday like they did today, they'll be a cast iron bitch in the championship game.

Earl Walton officiating Big Ten game

One of the officials who stepped aside from the Big East tournament after the controversial ending of the St. John's-Rutgers game is working the Michigan State-Purdue game at the Big Ten tournament in Indianapolis on Friday night.

Referee Earl Walton was one of three officials who withdrew from the Big East tournament after coming under heavy criticism for failing to officiate until the final buzzer of Wednesday's second-round game in New York.

Big Ten associate commissioner Rick Boyages, who supervises the league's officials, said the league had always planned to use Walton when he was finished at the Big East.

Boyages said he reviewed tape of the St. John's-Rutgers game and discussed using Walton with Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany before confirming Walton's new assignment. Boyages said he also spoke with Walton and did not have a major problem with Walton's role in the Big East decision.

Sparty might be in the process of being Sparty here.....
Yes, but in the opposite way you meant. That was sparty being sparty, greatness seemingly out of nowhere in March (though usually it waits another week)

Come home and find out Purdue AND Wisconsin are out of the tournament. Epic.

And I'm so glad I didn't get to watch the PSU/Wisconsin game. Christ.

Pretty much what I was going to post. Didn't see either game as I got out of the house last night, but I plan on watching plenty of hoops today.

Sparty wakes up when they hear the word "tournament" and that PSU-Wiscy game must've set hoops back about 70 years.

If all other seedings hold, for Michigan St to win the B1G Tourney, they'll have to beat Purdue, Wisconsin, and Ohio State in three days.

Good luck with that.

Don't know about luck, Izzo is just an excellent coach and hard to bet against him especially late in the season.

Beat Purdue -- check

Beat Wisconsin -- seeding not held.

Seems like the odds for Tom Izzo at the end of the season get skewed, someday some oddsmaker will remember the Izzo pattern from history.
His coaching style just seems to get bigger, stronger, better come tourney time.
