2011 Basketball Team/Player Rankings

How can OSU check in at 13, and Illinois at 11, when we have 3/4 of our players ranked higher than their top player? Not that rankings mean anything in the end... but still.
Daniels is just plain stupid in doing these rankings. Maybe it's because McDonald is not a top 100 player. Otherwise, the numbers just don't add up for Ohio State not to have a better class ranking than Illinois.

He could have factored in addressing team needs, though I doubt it. The one glaring weakness in OSU's current class based on what they need is lack of elite bigs. I would imagine the same type of arguments could be made for most of these teams though.

Free Rivals - New school in top 10 of expanded team rankings

Ohio State and St. John's were the recipients of good news at the end of the early signing period. St. John's further solidified its No. 2 ranking in the national team recruiting rankings with the addition of four-star wing Amir Garrett. Ohio State beat out Florida to land four-star center Amir Williams, which bumped the Buckeyes' class from No. 14 to No. 10 in the latest edition of the rankings.

10. Ohio State
2011 commits (National rank)
SF Sam Thompson (46)
SF LaQuinton Ross (53)
PG Shannon Scott (65)
C Amir Williams (73)
PF Trey McDonald

Thompson is an athletic forward and Scott is one of the steadier point guards in the 2011 class. At Ohio State he can deliver the ball to a sharpshooter in Ross. Another four-star prospect, Williams has the length and athleticism to crack the starting lineup as a starting center. McDonald brings more size and a high motor to the class.
