Signup for the Alumni Lottery process begins tomorrow, and ends sometime in May. Signing up right away doesn't improve anybody's odds.

Here's the info from the alumni site:

Ohio State Football Information

In 2010, 97 percent of alumni who applied in the lottery were successful and received tickets to a Buckeye home football game.

Alumni Association members are mailed lottery details in April, register in May, and learn their results in late June or early July. All tickets distributed in the lottery are non-refundable.

* This benefit isn't available to associate members. Only active paid members-those who completed 15 or more hours of course work at Ohio State-are eligible to apply for football tickets.

Recent graduates who have a one-year complimentary membership need to join as full, active members to have the opportunity to apply for the football ticket lottery. Recent grad membership dues are $40 annually and must be paid by March 1.

HOW MUCH DO THE FOOTBALL TICKETS COST?
2011 ticket prices have not been determined. In 2010, tickets were $70 each, with a $4 service fee per ticket. The total cost for a pair of tickets for Alumni Association members was $148.

HOW DOES THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TICKET LOTTERY WORK?
Active, dues-paying members of the Alumni Association (as of Mar. 1) who apply for the lottery by the end of the registration period in May, will be entered into a random ticket lottery. The Athletics Ticket Office will conduct the lottery, which randomly assigns game tickets to participating members. When all available tickets are assigned to members who applied, the lottery ends. Members can see their lottery result by visiting their Alumni Association online account in July. The registration process is entirely online, and no e-mail or U.S. mail notification of lottery results will be delivered.

Cont'd ...

I might just opt out altogether. I get stuck with games I don't want and have to try to sell the tickets, which most people don't want, either. I'm better off just spending the money to get the game I want and be done with it.

I renewed my alumni association membership yesterday, but where do we go to get into the lottery or does that not happen until May? (They are making it sound like you sign up right now)

I was somewhat confused by it also.

I think they're saying that you have to be current in having alumni dues paid as of today (March 1), in order to be eligible to register online for the alumni lottery in May.

Yes that is what they are saying. I called to alumni association just to be sure.

My friends and I are paid for life members, but we all decided not to get tix this year b/c it really isn't worth $75 a pop to see Akron or Ohio either A-get rolled,or B-make it game untilthe middle of the 4th quarter. Either way, we aren't getting any B-10 games, and the off chance of a Colorado ticket doesn't thrill me.
