2011-2012 Lady Buckeyes Basketball

Yeah, that was my point Jake. We play Florida, which btw was one of the LAST 4 teams in, and the reward is the #1 overall.

Why does a last 4 team in the tourney get a 9 seed and a 25-6 team with a good resume get an 8? That is the main problem I have. Then, being the next game vs Baylor to top off that insult. I dont get the seeding.

I would have thought the Buckeyes were a 5 seed at the least. Easily a top20 team right?

Oh well, there's nothing the ladies can do about it but to shoot the lights out and shock the world!!!

Just looked again to see what I was missing. Only sixteen teams in all of women's CBB lost fewer games than OSU. That includes 9 from the Ivy, Horizon, Colonial, Conf USA, Atlantic Sun, Atlantic 10, Mid-Eastern, West Coast and Western Athletic.

8 seed is too low... but the Big 10 has been terrible for a long time and some of Foster's early exits hasn't helped the judgement of the capabilities of this team. I thought a 5 or 6 seed was appropriate.

For two teams who are not rivals, we are meeting entirely too much lately.

If this continues we might eventually start to have the beginnings of a smidgeon of an inkling of the faint notion of a rivalry.

Total crock.

Ladies beat LSU, they are a 5 seed. They beat Oklahoma, in Norman, they are a 6 seed. They beat Cal at Cal who also got an 8 seed. Nebraska even got a 6 seed and they only really came on in the last 10 games or so this seson.

That is what Foster is really pissed about. They postured and plumed about how the committee was going to really look at the overall work instead of the last ten games or, "who was hot", and they did exactly what they said they werent going to do. Foster has a legitimate beef.

At least they would get to play Baylor in Bowling Green if they beat Florida

A six would be fair. A 6 seed in our bracket gets you a second round game against the champion of the Colonial. Quite a difference.

Regardless of what you think of the BIG we were undefeated outside the conference, including wins against a 5 and 6 seed.

Oklahoma is 20-12 with five loses outside their conference - including a six point loss to OSU on their home court. And they are a #6 with a second round game against the third place team in the Big East.

Besides Ohio State getting dicked, I don't understand why Baylor has to travel to Ohio to play a first and second round game. They are the #1 seed and usually the #1 seed does not travel far from home and we thought that the Men's Selection Committee was crazy. Don't know what can be said about the Women's Selection Committee.

With all of the griping about our seeding I decided to see if I can figure out what the committee looked at to make that decision.

The Bucks are 26th in RPI. California is 28th in RPI and they also got an 8th seed. Cal's SOS is 33rd. The Buckeyes SOS is 78th. Nebraska? They're 32nd in RPI, their SOS is 51st and they kicked our butts twice in the last week of the season. Not hard to see why they got a higher seed.

Kansas State must really be pissed, considering they are 17th in RPI and also an 8th seed. They also had the 4th toughest schedule in the country. To me, the Wildcats got hosed as badly as anyone. They get UConn in the second round if they win. They wouldn't get placed in Baylor's bracket because they play in the same conference.

I don't think our seeding is anywhere as near out of whack as it may have appeared at first blush. Our SOS played against us. We have the lowest SOS of any major conference team in the top 30 of the RPI. No doubt the committee put weight on that number. :ohwell:
