2010 Winter Olympics tidbits

Pardon me for asking - but where are you getting an evening lineup for events and what will be televised? I'd like to check the evening listings - but the NBC website is damn convaluted and tough to get a decent schedule.

Thanks guys.
Awful Announcing

edit: I guess they haven't gotten to today's yet. Usually they're pretty good with that kind of thing.

I'd rather watch the hockey on MSNBC and get to see the whole game than have it on NBC and their multiple event, cluster-fuck coverage.

TWC Columbus has MSNBC in HD. I assume that just about every other carrier does as well.

I cant believe how bad NBCs coverage of these games are. Im constantly getting the results spoiled cause ESPN is putting it on the front page, NBC right now is the main reason why I have watched so little of the olympics, nothing is live, all the results are already known, and the constant skipping between sports and commercials, I have no idea whats going on

Nbc's coverage is indeed quite poor, but there is a pretty simple solution to not being screwed by espn.com :p
espn.com was not mentioned (recently). ESPN was mentioned, and the solution is to not watch any of the college basketball or other sports live, because ESPN's bottom line is giving Olympic updates. In that case, there is not a simple/realistic solution, if you're into watching the sports that ESPN is broadcasting.

This is all a pissing match over the rights to Olympic highlights. ESPN wants more access, and NBC wants to limit access so people will watch their primetime broadcast.

People like to bitch about ESPN, but there's no doubt in my mind that the Olympics are something they could do better than anybody else if they wanted to. First of all, they'd probably show everything worth a damn live on one of their networks or online. Second of all, they'd promote the shit out of the hockey tournament. Has everybody seen what they've been doing with soccer lately? The NHL would kill to get shamelessly pimped like that.

If you're already a hockey fan and don't care about promoting the game, then you should be glad that it's being shown on one of the cable networks. It will get the undivided coverage it deserves. One of the reasons I look forward to curling is because it's somehow one of the events that gets covered like regular sports. It's generally shown live, or at least not switching between events. You can watch it from start to finish and not miss anything important to the outcome while they do an athlete profile or something like that. If NBC were smart, they'd put every hockey game - men's & women's - on USA network. Show everything in HD. Put together a pre-game and post-game show. Make it the one stop for Olympic Hockey.

I haven't heard too many people refer to the 'front page' when talking about their TVs.

we already have one 27, we don't need more :p
