Former Michigan standout receiver Braylon Edwards said 2010 is a "make or break year" for coach Rich Rodriguez.
"He's past the hot seat, and he has to make it work," said Edwards, who threw out the first pitch for Thursday's Tigers-Nationals game at Comerica Park. "If he can't -- me being one of the alumni guys -- I want someone that can make it work. We've been patient. If it doesn't go right this year, we'll have to find a guy that can make it work with that winged helmet."
Edwards, now with the New York Jets, is in the area this weekend for his charity basketball game, which is Saturday night at Crisler Arena.
Rodriguez has an 8-16 record in two seasons at Michigan.
"Everybody says he didn't have his players when he first got here, that it's going to take him a while to recruit," said Edwards. "(But) this is Michigan. We have some of the best athletes in the country, year in and year out."
Edwards, who wore the coveted No. 1 jersey at Michigan, played for the Wolverines from 2001-04. He caught 252 passes for 3,541 yards and 39 touchdowns.
