Some small D1AA school should be making room for a tiny underweight yet plucky young QB with 3 years of eligibility left.

cont'dMichigan's Rich Rodriguez, like most coaches, has no interest in setting a specific number of wins as a goal. But cornerback Troy Woolfolk, smarting from the last two seasons, didn't mind picking a number. "The record that we have -- that's a record that should never be associated with Michigan," Woolfolk said Tuesday at the Big Ten Kickoff. The Wolverines were 3-9 in 2008 and 5-7 last season.
"It's a little bit embarrassing to come from the past that we've come from ... to see that we haven't had a winning season is embarrassing. It humbles us. It makes us want to compensate for that.
"I made a goal of winning at least eight games. Anything below that would be a disappointment to me. I think we're a great team, and you saw signs of that last year. I think were a great team. It's just a matter of being consistent."
I think we're a great team, and you saw signs of that last year.
cont'dESPN college football analysts Andre Ware and Todd Blackledge believe this is a pivotal year for Rich Rodriguez, entering his third season as the Wolverines' coach.
Rodriguez has gone 8-16 his first twoyears at Michigan.
"I do think it's a make-or-break year for Rich," Ware said Wednesday during an ESPN college football teleconference. "A lot of the alums that you talk to and the people around the program ... there are some unhappy campers, and they're ready for some results.
"This is Michigan we're talking about. We need Michigan in college football to be successful, to be in bowl games, BCS games and to kind of follow in suit what Ohio State has done. We're just not used to having Michigan in this position. When you go this long (losing), you can say it's only two years, but that's too long for Michigan."
Blackledge attended the Big Ten Kickoff on Monday and Tuesday in Chicago and picked up a clear idea of what this season means for Rodriguez.
"It's very evident there's a real sense and a real feel that this is a huge year for Rich," Blackledge said. "I think there's a lot of people like myself that are really pulling for him, that like him, liked him when he was at West Virginia, and know he's a good football coach. But it's been a real struggle to this point.
"I think this is a huge year for him, and you've got to believe in year three that they should be able to turn the corner. The quarterback position is critical to his offense and what he likes to do. (The quarterback competition) is going to be interesting to watch."
