2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

U-M back at Cleveland powerhouse Glenville High

Michigan signed defensive end Pierre Woods out of Cleveland?s Glenville High in the class of 2001.
Since then, 58 Tarblooders have signed letters of intent with Division 1 schools, but none with Michigan even though the Wolverines have recruited dozens of prospects from the school during that span.

Of those 58 Glenville prospects who signed Division 1 letters of intent since 2001, 16 have signed with Ohio State, including the likes of Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith and All-American wide receiver Ted Ginn.

The Buckeyes have been successful at keeping their biggest rival out of one of their best pipeline high school programs, but that could change in the class of 2011.

******

There does not appear to be an end in sight to Glenville?s consistent production of elite Division 1 talent, and Michigan would certainly benefit from tapping into that pipeline. The 2011 class may be U-M's best opportunity to get back into the discussion at Glenville since signing Woods 10 years ago.

It appears that somebody renovated the playing surface at AA.

Block 'M' at Michigan Stadium vandalized

A 6-inch by 4-foot portion of the Block "M" at the center of the Michigan Stadium was cut out and removed this past weekend.
University spokesperson Diane Brown said the strip of FieldTurf that was cut out was from the blue portion of the "M." The "M" is primarily maize with blue trim.
Brown said other damage was done to the FieldTurf in the area surrounding the Block "M" but added that no other strips of the field were cut out and removed. The vandalism is being investigated by university police.

Artificial turf first was installed at Michigan Stadium in 1969. The university returned to a natural grass field in 1991. However, after several failed attempts to maintain a suitable natural playing surface, Michigan installed FieldTurf in 2003.
FieldTurf is an artificial surface that has performance characteristics similar to natural grass.

That, or nobody trained the cheerleaders not to graze on field turf.

I think we ALL know who is really to blame.

The paint used to put the block M on the field turf was lead-based....or so I've heard. :paranoid:

The strip cited 'eroding family values?'
The strip lied to the NCAA during the investigations?
The field had seen enough of the spread?
The strip has already been shredded?
The strip was supposed to be enough for condo development?
The strip decided that Tulsa was a better fit?

and finally....

The field was already bare when they installed the new field turf?

Michigan.....the only school in the country who refuses to "operate in the gray areas" yet still is able to bring in 5 star recruits.

Is there anything that school can't do.....besides win?
Not according to tom beaver. He flat out says "everybody cheats, except m*ch*g*n". I'm not kidding, he really says that. :so:
