2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

You know what's really funny? The two teams you're talking about are MICHIGAN and UCONN. Think about that for a second. Michigan vs UConn is a toss up.

I was on their boards for some humor recently and saw them whining about how they didn't have an easy tune up game like we do. And they're Michigan. And it's UConn. And they're actually right in regards to the talent difference between the two teams. Michigan and UConn are evenly matched......and they don't see anything wrong with it.

Maybe they think its basketball season.

What is funny is that this isn't your typical "Blowout Opener" scenario where your squad is expecting to win 50-7 and you will be able to play some young pups once the game is hand.

This game is a toss up and he is going to play a bunch of freshmen. I hope to god OSU is never in a situation where 10 Freshman have to play in a season opener that is in doubt.
If I had to imagine a comparable defensive scenario, it would look something like this:

DE Wilson*
DT Goebel
DE Barrow*
LEO Newsome

STAR Hagan
LB Mark Johnson*
LB Curtis Terry*

CB Gambrell**
FS Wood
SS Antonio Smith***
CB Roby

* - as upperclassmen, obviously warped to this squad
** - add a yr to make him a true frosh
*** - as a second yr contributor, still better suited to special teams than db

Instead, almost all of those guys would not make the two deep. Many of those young names have potential but like most frosh arent ready for anything other than being overhauled by the football and conditioning staff.

In Yogi Berra fashion:

We will need to score more points than the opponent to win.

RichRod's formula for success in football is 40% spread offense, 40% Barwis conditioning, 20% starting QB surprise, and 100% being all in.

I give you guys about a 50 -50 chance of winning over 30% of your games in 2010.

JT Floyd. On the one hand, he was so overmatched last year that Michigan decided they should move Troy Woolfolk to his spot and unleash Mike Williams on the world; Williams promptly gave up a third-and-twenty-four conversion to Iowa and was subsequently swapped with freshman walk-on Jordan Kovacs, leaving a tiny, slow, inexperienced guy no one even recruited in the most critical spot on the defense. This went exactly as well as you might expect. The coaches thought this was preferable to having Floyd on the field.

Love it.

More win:

The other corner spot will probably (50.1%!)

And look how wrong those coaches were - because now Floyd is not only a starter - he OWNS that spot.

mgoblog previews the secondary. *spoiler alert* It's gonna be bad. Real bad. Think 2008 scUM OL bad...with people throwing footballs at it.

Preview 2010: Secondary | mgoblog

Oh, this is gonna be fun to watch.

The ultimate entertainment would be for Uconn to beat them.....not by running it down their throats....but by Zach Frazier picking apart their "secondary"

First of all, that adds up to 200%!!!! No wonder his teams flounder like a bunch of confused fart knockers. By definition, no one can give over 100%! Homer Simpson taught me that!

Second of all, isn't "100% being ALL in" repetitively redundant? How can you be 50% all in? Or 100% half in? Rich Rod is a dumb ass.
