2010 SEC Discussion and vBet

Rankings (per Rivals) back to 2005. First number is total number of players on roster who were rated 4* or 5*. number in parentheses is number of 5* rated recruits on roster.

SEC teams were put into roughly 5 groups based upon number of 4*/5* on roster

UF----- 59(13)
Ala----- 55(8)
LSU----- 50(7)

Guess who has had the most success in the last five years? What a coincidence.

UGA----- 43(3)

And Helen Hunt has them dead last in the SEC Eastern Division...

Aub----- 32(2)
USC----- 27(2)

This shows how well Gene and the Ole Ball Coach have done - considering. (Or how poorly Spur dog has recruited.....considering :p)

Tenn---- 22(3)
Ark----- 20(2)
Miss---- 17(3)
MSU----- 17(0)

The Mississippi suckage and the Tennessee suckage over the last five years is explained. Why the Piggies could not match depth with the Tahd Saturday - Mallet suckage aside - is also evident.

Ky------ 5(0)
Van---- 1

Kentucky's 3-0 start is quite the feat.

Looks like Joker and Bobby are doing the best jobs, and Richt the worst. Anyway, I found it interesting, and worthy of note to those who like to coach up two and three stars versus land the 4 and 5 star guys. It makes a difference, and no matter the occasional success story, it affects depth and results in losses if you recruit poorly over time.

Huge relief today. With the win over Vandy, the Gators are 4-3 in the SEC. We are thus guaranteed not to have a losing conference record.

Since the SEC went to two divisions in 1992, Florida is the only SEC school to not have a losing conference record. The SEC has a reputation as a pretty good football conference, and to be the only school not to have a losing conference record for the last 19 years....after some less than stellar seasons.....shows that we have finally reached a level of consistency in our play that I could hardly have dreamed off at my last year at Florida, the 0-10-1 1979.

Which is to say, go us! :banger: :p

I thought "everybody" expected Alabama to be the king. Not just of the SEC, but of college football.

On BP, Georgia was supposed to be king of the SEC. :p

Watch Auburn lose to Bama and then lay an egg to Georgia.

That would put the Hat in the CG, even when they lose to the piggies. Which they will.

Thw winner of S Carolina at Florida wins the East - cut and dried.

But the SEC West team in the CCG is an interesting mess right now, with the possibility of Cam Newton being ruled ineligible.

Please don't discuss Newton's actions here - that belongs in his thread in this same forum. But the ramifications for the SECCG are better off being discussed here - separate from the allegations.

If Auburn doesn't have to forfeit any games, they only need 1 win against either Georgia or Bama to make the SECCG.

If Auburn loses to Georgia and to Bama, LSU can get in with 2 wins. If Auburn ends up having to forfeit games already played, LSU is in even better shape.

Mike Slive must have folks working on the SECCG ramifications of the difference between Auburn forfeiting games already played versus vacating wins.

TEAM (SEC W-L, losses).............. SEC Games left
Auburn..(6-0)....................... Georgia, at Bama
LSU.....(5-1, lost to Auburn)....... Ole Miss, at Ark
Bama....(4-2, lost to S Car & LSU).. Miss St, Auburn
Ark.....(4-2, lost to Bama & Auburn) at Miss St, LSU
Miss St.(3-2, lost to Auburn & LSU). at Bama, Ark, at Ole Miss
