2010 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

I just don't see how Mack Brown could be ahead of Rod Smith. And for Graham to still be rated in the 70's on Scout is pitiful....

Agreed. I just have never been that impressed with Brown...yeah he is fast, but I really only saw straightline speed. Also, to have Graham that low among the QB's is really pathetic...where was Scout on the combine trails this summer, where Taylor tore it up. I also wish they wouldn't have took the Rivals road and dropped Turner so much. They rank kids high all the time who have almost zero chance at academically qualifying...why not wait and see if he keeps his nose clean first? They also have the QB's ranked a tad too high, especially Paul Jones and Blake Bell.

All in all though, I have to say this is one of the better lists I have seen in a long while. They got it right on McVey and besides with Graham and Turner, they ranked our guys properly imo.

The way they explain it is that the Midwest rankings are based only off A. Trieu's (head of Midwest) personal rankings, while the 300 is based off of input from everyone.

In other words.....the Notre Dame verbal gets the higher ranking from guys who haven't even seen either kid in person.

I just realized Rivals team rankings are up: Team Rankings (free)

OSU sits at #20 with 11 commitments and a 3.18 star average. It's a bit peculiar we are that high, considering most teams above us either have much better averages and/or more commitments on board. The teams above us with a similar amount of commitments are at #19 Michigan State (12), #18 FSU (11), #16 Cal (11), #15 Tennessee (13), #12 USC (11), #9 ND (14), #8 Penn St. (15) and #4 Florida (15). The rest have 18 plus and mostly better averages.

To be top 10 this year we are going to likely have to pull of Hicks, Joyner, Shaw, James, Henderson, and/or one more top 100 type guy. No big deal if we finish the class out strong, because our limited room in the class will hinder our ranking. I say in accordance to the prospects on the radar and how much room we have left, I predict a 15-20 range in the end.

Our average will suck as long as they have Hagan as a 0-star and Basil as a 2-star.

Rankings, schmankings...just as long as we get the best possible players to fill our needs.

just putting hagan at a 3* puts osu at about #17 with an avg. of 3.45. it's funny that they can update rankings when they haven't bothered to even rank all the players.

McVey and Hagan should be 4-stars be the time all is said and done, along with Basil deserving to be a 3-star. If that happens, the 11 commits we have now would work out to a 3.73 average.

Hagan having no stars is ridiculous but I would honestly give him two stars until he provides an improved film senior year. He is an athletic specimen but doesn't really show up on film and we never heard a peep from the combine trail. Basil needs 3 stars and obviously McVey is a 4 star (they are out of their minds here). I'm not all too concerned about rankings, but it passes the time until they get on the field :)
