2010 Ohio State Women's Track and Field

All-American
I know this was already posted in the men's thread, but I figured I would get a thread started for the women after their fantastic Big Ten performance. I will keep this updated throughout the final weeks of the indoor season and throughout the outdoor season.

Manning, McGinnis Help Buckeyes Finish Second at Big Ten Championships - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Ohio State women's track and field team captured second-place Sunday at the 2010 Big Ten Championships, the Buckeyes' highest team finish in nine years.

A year removed from placing ninth, the Scarlet and Gray used a balanced team effort to take the conference by storm. No. 10 Penn State - competing on its home track - won the championship with a total of 111 points, ahead of the Buckeyes (88) and No. 19 Indiana (83).

"I am just so proud of this team," head coach Karen Dennis said after the meet. "We knew that we had the personnel to put together this type of turnaround and it is very rewarding to see it come true."

While the Buckeyes witnessed outstanding performances across the board, it was Christina Manning who stated her case for the Athlete of the Championship award, recording two runner-up finishes and an individual title in the 60m hurdles.

"Christina was just on fire today," Dennis said. "She came to me in the summer and told me she was going to do everything she could to help make our team better. She was our top point scorer on the day, so obviously she kept her promise."

Manning and Letecia Wright went one-two in the 60m hurdle finals, with the Waldorf, Md., product getting the better of her Baltimore counterpart - both set NCAA provisional times, with Manning crossing the finish line in 8.25 and Wright following in 8.32. Freshman Christienne Linton finished in seventh-place with a time of 8.73 as the Buckeyes amassed 20 team points in the event.

Manning followed up her title in the hurdles with runner-up finishes in both the 200m and 60m dash. The sophomore used a time of 23.56 in the 200m - the second-best in school indoor history and a Top 15 time nationally - to finish behind Penn State All-American Shavon Greaves, who set the national standard with an NCAA-best sprint of 22.98, a track record. Greaves would also edge Manning in the 60m dash, taking the title with a 7.30 gallop, while Manning finished close behind in 7.40, the third-best time in OSU indoor history.

The upset of the championship came in the 400m dash, where Buckeye sophomore Shaniqua McGinnis captured her first individual Big Ten title by defeating Penn State All-American Fawn Dorr. McGinnis broke the OSU indoor record with her winning time of 52.65, an NCAA provisional qualifier and the third-best Division I time this season. Dorr finished just behind McGinnis with a PR of 52.68, fourth-best nationally.

"McGinnis is just starting to scratch the surface of her potential," Dennis said of the rising sophomore. "Beating an athlete like Fawn Dorr is an outstanding accomplishment. Shaniqua and I were excited to get a call from (former Ohio State All-American) Jenna Griffin today congratulating her on both her title and school record."

McGinnis and Manning, along with seniors Latoya Sanderson and Ashley Caldwell posted the second-best school indoor time in the 4x400m relay, finishing third with an NCAA provisional time of 3:38.88, a Top 25 nationally. Penn State took home the mile relay title with a Big Ten championships record time of 3:35.38.

Caldwell would best her own Ohio State record in the 600m to finish third in a time of 1:29.34. Indiana senior Molly Beckwith would take the win with a track record time of 1:27.22.

Kelcey McKinney just missed the podium in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a PR mark of 12.45m (40-10.25). Wisconsin's Chavon Robinson finished first at 12.87m (42-2.75).

"Our girls have put in the effort in the weight room and on the track to get better and our coaches have given the extra effort in recruiting and teaching these young women," Dennis said. "I'm really happy to see everyone's hard work pay off, and I expect even bigger things from this team in the outdoor season."

Team Standings (Final)
1. Penn State - 111 points
2. Ohio State - 88
3. Indiana - 83
4. Minnesota - 82
5. Wisconsin - 72
6. Purdue- 71
7. Illinois - 67

Alex Wilson Invitational

Williams Represents Buckeyes at Alex Wilson Invite - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senior Katie Williams represented the Ohio State women's track and field team Saturday at Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind.

The lone Buckeye competing at the "Last Chance" meet, Williams gave a valiant effort against a competitive field, finishing 10th in the mile in 4:47.97, the second-best indoor time in school history and a second off of an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Oklahoma State's Mihaela Susa finished in first place with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:36.38.

Williams has enjoyed an outstanding indoor season for the Buckeyes, posting Top 5 school indoor times in the 1000m, mile and 3000m. A graduate student who previously competed at Michigan, Williams also helped Ohio State's cross country team qualify for its first NCAA championship appearance in program history last fall.

Katie really represented the Bucks well this indoor season, consistently running very well all season. She didn't score at Big Tens, but that was a product of the conference being extremely strong in distance, not due to poor performances by her. She ran very well in both the Mile and 5k there, falling just shy of a provisional mark in both events.

I was really hoping she would hit a provisional time after coming so close in the Mile, 3k, and 5k this year, but running a PR is a great way to cap of the season.

RALEIGH, N.C. - Led by junior Letecia Wright, the Ohio State women's track and field team opened the 2010 outdoor season in strong fashion Friday afternoon at the adidas Raleigh Relays.

Wright impressed the crowd at NC State with her qualifying times in both the 100m hurdles and 100m dash. A hurdle specialist, Wright dominated the field in the 100m IH, claiming the top spot for Saturday's final with a time of 13.33, the best time in the Big Ten this season. Alana Gray also secured a place in the finals with an eighth-place run of 13.95.

The Baltimore, Md. native followed her effort in the hurdles with a fourth-place qualifying time (11.92) in the 100m dash prelims. Barbara Pierre of St. Augustine's (11.45) is at the front of the pack headed into Saturday's final.

Big Ten 400m champion Shaniqua McGinnis picked up right where she left off during the indoor season, cruising to a first-place finish in the 400 in 54.23, best in the conference. George Mason's Tiara Swindell was second in 54.85, while Buckeye Latoya Sanderson took fourth in 55.31.

Kelcey McKinney won the long jump with a personal record jump of 5.97m (19-7), fifth-best in Ohio State outdoor history and the best in the Big Ten so far this outdoor season. North Carolina's Tyler Ford was a close second at 5.94m (19-6).

Two Buckeyes finished in the 5000m Top 10. Ellen Birmingham sparked the Buckeye charge with a fourth-place and PR time of 16.44.14, while Sarah Foster finished eighth in 16:56.54. Alissa McKaig took the title with her winning time of 16.25:85.

Freshman Nyjah Cousar finished eighth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.02. LaToya James of North Carolina won the event in 59.29.

Day 2:

Relay Teams Spark Buckeye Effort in Raleigh - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

RALEIGH, N.C. - Ohio State relays were the story of the day Saturday at the adidas Raleigh Relays.

The Buckeyes' up-and-coming relay teams dominated the competition at NC State, posting Top 2 finishes in the 4x100m, 4x200m and 4x400m events. The 4x100m team of Christienne Linton, Christina Manning, Nyjah Cousar and Letecia Wright sprinted its way to a first-place finish in 45.67, the best time in the Big Ten so far this season and a Top 20 performance nationally. The 4x200m (1:38.95) and 4x400m (3:41.53) teams were second in their respective events - the 4x400m time is the best in the Big Ten and sixth-best nationally.

Wright cruised to an easy win in the 100m hurdle finals with a time of 13.40. The Baltimore, Md., native set the fourth-best time nationally (13.33) in the preliminary round Friday. North Carolina's Vanneish Ivy finished a distant second (13.53).

Manning and Shaniqua McGinnis impressed in the 200m dash. Manning, a 2010 indoor All-American, ran a Big Ten-best and Top 15 national time of 23.97 to finish in second, while McGinnis took fourth in 24.05, second-best in the conference. Seton Hall's Jernail Hayes was first in 23.76.

Sophomore Maggie Mullen shattered her own school record in the javelin with a third-place mark of 48.30m (158-05), tops in the Big Ten. DePaul's Melissa Fraser won the event at 49.36m (161-11).

Mullen also finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 54.71m (179-06), currently the best mark in the Big Ten. Freshman Alexis Thomas was eighth at 52.87m (173-05) - third-best in the conference - as Amy Thayer of North Shore Athletic Club took first at 58.88m (193-02).

Senior Katie Williams finished eighth in the 1500m with a time of 4:31.01, fourth-best in OSU outdoor history and the fourth-best run in the Big Ten. The winning time of 4:24.65 was recorded by Joan Bohlke of New Balance Boston.

The Lady Bucks pick up right where the left off indoors, posting very strong performances across the board. The sprinters/hurdlers continued to impress, Mullen performed very well in the throws, and McKinney posted another strong mark in the long jump.

The distance runners also looked good, as Williams ran a strong 1500 and Birmingham posted a very nice PR in the 5k after a rough indoor campaign (I'm guessing she was either sick or hurt). Foster can certainly run better, but nothing to worry about at this point.

Saw the Big Ten indoors championship on the BTN and unfortunately we might as well give the outdoor championship to the Nittany Lions or am I missing something:huh:. That one sprinter is really quick and they will probably dominate the sprints again.

Day 1:

Buckeyes Open Competition at Auburn - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

AUBURN, Ala. - The Ohio State women's track and field opened competition at the Tiger Track Classic Friday afternoon at Auburn University.

Maggie Mullen took first-place in the javelin by more than four meters over Mississippi State's Allison Storey, with the winning mark hitting 45.32m (148-08), the second-best toss in the Big Ten this season behind her own mark of 48.30m (158-05) set last weekend at the Raleigh Relays.

Freshman Alexis Thomas set a personal record in the hammer throw finals, finishing in fifth place at 53.16m (174-05), the third-best toss in the Big Ten this season. Mullen finished in eighth with a throw of 50.72m (166-05), seventh-best in the conference. Kentucky's Kristin Smith won the competition with a mark of 60.05m (197-00), the fifth-best Division I toss this outdoor season.

Day 2:

No article up yet, so I will recap.

Manning with a nice effort in the 100, running 11.59 (2.4 wind). Wright ran a 24.35 in the 200 (-0.6 wind), with everyone ahead of her running with a 2.2/2.3 wind. Too bad she the wind shifted for her heat. McGinnis bumped up to the 800 and ran a 2:09.96, while Caldwell clocked in at 2:11.98. Manning tore up the 100 hurdles running 13.19 (1.3 wind) with Wright finishing behind her with a 13.42 (1.3 wind). 4x1 didn't turn in their best effort, running 46.25. 4x4 did better, however, running 3:37 to take 2nd behind Auburn. Manning also got back into the long jump, winning the event with a 19' 03" effort.

OSU's sprinting studs and distance runners will be at Mt. Sac this weekend, while the rest of the team competes at Louisville. Two ladies competed last night for OSU in the 10k. Sarah Foster ran a 35:21, while Ellen Birmingham ran a 36:19. Neither performance was very good, though Foster's wasn't "bad." Hopefully Foster can get on a roll, and Ellen can find the form she showed at Raleigh in the 5k.

Short-handed Buckeyes Perform Well at Louisville - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A short-handed Ohio State women's track and field squad competed admirably Friday afternoon at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Ky.

Competing without its top sprinters/hurdlers, the Buckeye field events and a group of young runners stepped up and helped Ohio State to a fourth-place finish at Cardinal Park. Host Louisville, No. 21 nationally, won the meet with a total score of 144, followed by Illinois State (143 points), Central Michigan (132) and OSU (81).

A look at some of the meet highlights for the Buckeyes:

1500m Run

High Jump
A season-best and Top 10 Big Ten mark of 1.74m (5-8.50) helped Ashley Galbraith to a third-place finish in the high jump. Central Michigan's Erika Schroll won the event at 1.77m (5-9.75).

Pole Vault
Ashley Bowden finished second in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 3.45m (11-3.75). Rachelle Harbert of Illinois State was first with a mark of 3.55m (11-7.75).

Wright's Career Day Fuels Buckeyes at Mt. SAC Relays - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Running alongside some of the best collegiate and professional athletes in the nation, Ohio State's top sprint and distance runners put together an impressive performance at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., over the weekend.

The Buckeyes were led by junior Letecia Wright, who set two personal records Saturday afternoon, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 100m hurdle invitational. Crossing the finish line in 13.17 seconds, Wright recorded the top time in the Big Ten so far this season, the fifth-best time in school history, and the sixth-best NCAA Division I time in 2010. Adam State's Indira Spence was first in 13.13 and Christina Manning seventh (13.49) for Ohio State.

Wright followed up her strong showing in the hurdles with a fourth-place finish in the Olympic Development section of the 100m dash, eighth-best in the Big Ten this season. Buckeye freshman Christienne Linton finished seventh (12.11), as Nike's Ginnie Powell took first-place in 11.34.

Other meet highlights for the Buckeyes:

4x400m Relay Invite
Ohio State's 4x400m squad raced to a fourth-place finish in 3:36.80, the third-best time in the Big Ten season and a Top 15 performance nationally. All-American won the race with a time of 3:29.96.

400m Open
Senior Latoya Sanderson ran a PR of 54.36, fourth-best in the Big Ten this season, to finish second in the open section of the 400m dash. Gabriela Medina of Mexico won the race with a time of 53.77.

10000m Invite
Sarah Foster posted the third-best time in Ohio State outdoor history in the 10000m invitational, finishing 13th in 35:21.17, No. 4 in the Big Ten this season. Ellen Birmingham took 18th in 36:19.58, fifth-best in the conference.

100m Invite
All-American Manning finished seventh in the 100m invitational with a time of 11.75, fifth-best in OSU outdoor history and sixth-best in the Big Ten. ChaRonda Williams of adidas won the event in 11.28 seconds.

5000m Open
A time of 16:41.49, the fourth-best in the Big Ten, helped senior Katie Williams to a 13th-place finish in the 5000m open. Shalaya Kipp of Colorado finished first in 16:29.38, while Wisconsin's Caitlin Comfort took second with a run of 16:32.95.

Absolutely huge weekend for Letecia Wright. Her run in the 100 hurdles was very very impressive. Manning was solid, but not spectacular. Glad to Sanderson finally dip under 55 after seemingly running the same time every week. McGinnis with a forgettable weekend, but not a disaster either. Caldwell absolutely blew up in the 800, but I'm guessing just a bad race. Nice run by the 4x4, would like to see them sub 3:35 by season's end. Katie Williams was probably hoping for better than 16:41 in the 5k, but not a bad run. Katie is the 3rd OSU runner under 17 minutes in the 5k this outdoor season, which I'm guessing is an OSU first.

04/23/2010 Drake Relays

The OSU women are off to a poor start so far at the Drake Relays. Letecia Wright's 13.59 (-0.4 wind) was the fastest qualifier in the prelims of the 100 hurdles, but that is the only bright spot so far.

The 4x100 failed to advance to the finals, running a 46.52 in the prelims.

Much more concerning, however, is the way Christina Manning has performed. Manning has posted some of the top times in the country this year in the 100, 100 hurdles, 200, and long jump, but after running a bit below par last week, has struggled tremendously so far at Drake. Manning failed to qualify for the finals of the 100 hurdles, running a 14.06 (0.0 wind), almost a full second off her season's best time of 13.19. Likewise, she failed to advance to the finals of the 100, running a 12.33 (0.0 wind), again well off here season's best of 11.59. Hopefully she is dealing with the flu or something, and not injured.

Letecia Wright also failed to make the finals of the 100, running a time of 12.16 in the prelims.

Article from the website about first day of Drake:

Wright, 4x400m Relay Highlight Buckeye Effort Friday at Drake Relays - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Letecia Wright cruised to a first-place time of 13.59 in the 100m hurdle preliminaries Friday night at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, highlighting the Buckeyes' first day of competition.

Wright, the reigning Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week, will be one of the favorites in tomorrow's final race, along with Michigan junior Charnee Lumbus, who finished second-place 13.75. Buckeye All-American Christina Manning just missed qualification for the finals, finishing ninth in 14.01.

Ohio State's 4x400m relay team of Latoya Sanderson, Ashley Caldwell, Nyjah Cousar and Shaniqua McGinnis turned in a solid performance in the event's preliminary race, qualifying second in 3:40.10. The Buckeyes were the lone team to qualify out of their heat, as OSU bested Indiana State (3:41.45). Mississippi used a Top 20 national time of 3:36.57 to take the top spot headed into Saturday's run for the title.

Caldwell also enjoyed some individual success Friday, finishing seventh in the 800m run finals with a time of 2:12.51, the third-best time of her career. Kansas State freshman Sara Stoakes won the race in 2:06.15, ninth nationally.

Saturday:

Wright Shatters PR in 100m Hurdles at the Drake Relays - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio - It's been quite a week for Ohio State star Letecia Wright.

Seven days after setting two personal records at the Mt. SAC Relays, the reigning Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week shattered another PR on her way to a first-place finish in the 100m hurdles Saturday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

The junior's time of 13.07, the fifth-best in NCAA Division I this season, the top time in the Big Ten and No. 5 all-time at Ohio State put her head-and-shoulders above the competition. Illinois freshman Tamika Robinson was the closest challenger, finishing second in 13.36.

Wright's outstanding performance wasn't the only highlight for the Buckeyes Saturday afternoon - a day removed from qualifying second in the preliminary round, Latoya Sanderson, Ashley Caldwell, Nyjah Cousar and Shaniqua McGinnis turned in an impressive time of 3:35.43 in the finals of the 4x400m. Despite falling to fourth, the Buckeyes' posted the second-best time in the Big Ten on the season and the 11th-best DI time this season. Baylor finished in first-place with a time of 3:33.32, with Illinois taking second (3:34.25) and Ole Miss third (3:34.60).

The Buckeyes' 1600m Sprint Medley consisting of Sanderson, Caldwell, McGinnis and All-American Christina Manning shattered the Ohio State school record in the event with a second-place time of 3:51.80. Tulsa took first-place in the championship race with a time of 3:47.44.

Wright, Manning, Christienne Linton, and Ashley Galbraith teamed up for a third-place finish in the 100m Shuttle Hurdle final, crossing the finish line in 54.85. Alabama won the race with a time of 54.49, followed by Louisiana Tech (54.71). The Buckeyes improved upon their preliminary by nearly four seconds to capture a hard-fought bronze.

In individual competition, Kelcey McKinney led the Buckeyes with strong efforts in both the triple jump and long jump. The sophomore finished 12th in the long jump at 5.86m (19-2.75), well behind champion Whitney Carlson of North Dakota State (6.44m/21-1.50), who posted the fourth-best mark in the NCAA this season. She followed that up with a 14th-place finish in the triple jump at 12.13m (39-9.75) as Kansas freshman Andrea Geubelle won the competition with a throw of 13.39m (43-11.25), second-best in DI. Both performances by McKinney are among the 10 best in the Big Ten this season.

Freshman Alexis Thomas finished sixth in the hammer throw (52.46m/172-01). First-place went to Indiana State's Kelsey Hanley at 57.56m (188-10), while Buckeye sophomore Maggie Mullen was 10th with a toss of 50.87m (166-11).

Galbraith finished third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.70m (5-7). Alabama's Krystle Schade was first at 1.75m (5-8.75).

Brink Wins Steeplechase at Stan Lyons Invitational
Freshman Victoria Brink ran a first-place time of 10:47.12 in the 3000m steeplechase Saturday evening at the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis.

Brink's time was a less than a second off of Melanie Price's school record time of 10:46.55 set in 2005 and is the 10th-best run in the Big Ten this season. Laura Farley of Brooks Team finished second in 10:53.79.

Senior Katie Williams took second-place in the 1500m run with her time of 4:32.06, the fifth-best time in school history. Butler's Kirsty Legg won the race in 4:27.89.

Another nice weekend for the Lady Bucks. Letecia Wright is really running well right now. If Manning can get back on track, the ladies are going to make some serious noise at Big Tens.

A nice first effort in the steeple by Tori Brink at Butler. Her time would have been right at the cutoff for a regional qualifier last year.

05/01 Jesse Owens Track Classic Day 2 Results

That?s a Wrap! 25th Jesse Owens Track Classic in the Books - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 25th edition of the Jesse Owens Track Classic is in the books after an electrifying final day of competition Saturday at Jesse Owen Memorial Stadium.

A look at day two of the JOTC:

100m Hurdles
Ohio State swept the Top 2 spots in the finals of the 100m hurdles, with sophomore All-American Christina Manning edging teammate Letecia Wright at the finish line. Manning's winning time of 13.10 is the seventh-fastest Division I time and the second-best in the Big Ten this season, while Wright's 13.15 sprint is also a Top 10 national time. Michigan junior Charnee Lumbus was the third-place finisher (13.33).

4x100m Relay
Manning, Wright, Shaniqua McGinnis and Latoya Sanderson combined for a first-place finish in the 4x100m, crossing the finish line in a season-best time of 45.53, third-best in the Big Ten this season. Big Ten rivals Michigan State (45.71) and Penn State (45.90) finished second and third, respectively.

4x400m Relay
Penn State, Mississippi State and Ohio State battled for the 4x400m relay title, with Penn State, thanks to a strong third leg, emerging on top. However, the Nittany Lions were disqualified due to a faulty handoff that impeded the Southern Illinois squad on the second/third leg exchange. Based on the DQ, Mississippi State claimed first-place in a time of 3:37.24. The Buckeyes, who led for the first 800 meters of the race, settled for second in 3:41.45.

400m Dash
Penn State All-American Fawn Dorr avenged her loss to Ohio State's McGinnis at the Big Ten indoor championships by capturing the 400m title in a time of 52.73, the top time in the Big Ten this season and seventh nationally. Mississippi State freshman Jody-Ann Muir finished second in 53.57, 22nd nationally, while McGinnis (53.64) and Sanderson (54.39) finished third and fourth for the Buckeyes. Both OSU times are among the Top 10 in the Big Ten, while the run from McGinnis is also a season-best.

100m Dash
Shavon Greaves and Manning, the Big Ten indoor champion and runner-up in the 100m, dueled for the JOTC event title Saturday, with Greaves again getting the better of the OSU sophomore. Penn State's All-American used a time 11.37, a Top 25 DI performance, to take the title, while Manning ran a season-best time of 11.54 for second, the third-best sprint in the Big Ten this season. Erica Mann took third for Michigan State (11.58, fourth-best in the conference).

400m Dash
Greaves made it two-for-two on the day with a winning sprint of 23.83 in the 400m dash, eighth-best in the Big Ten this season. Michigan State juniors Charelise Davis (24.28) and Erica Mann (24.37) claimed the second and third spots, edging OSU's Manning, who finished fourth in 24.46.

800m Run
Unattached athlete Ty-Nica Davis was the winner in the 800m with a time of 2:08.41. Kent State's Jessica Lhotsky finished second in 2:09.68, while Victoria Martinez placed third (20:09.86). Ohio State senior Ashley Caldwell was ninth in 2:10.73, a personal record and the fifth-best run in Ohio State outdoor history.

The OSU women continued to look very good overall, but the story of the meet in my eyes was the return to form of Christina Manning, who had a huge meet, seeting PRs in both the 100 hurdles (13.10) and the 100 (11.54). Manning also took 4th in the 200 (3rd in her heat) in 24.48, but that was run into a -4.7 mps wind. The winner of the 200, PSU's Shavone Greaves was 0.8 seconds off of her season's best, to put it in perspective.

Letecia Wright also had good meet, running 13.15 in the 100 hurdles and 11.80 in the 100.

The 400 went well, also, with McGinnis taking 3rd in 53.64 and Sanderson finishing 4th in 54.39. Glad to see Sanderson living in the 54s now.

Ashley Caldwell set a nice PR in the 800, running 2:10.73.

The 5k went well, as Williams won by a comfortable margin in 17:07, while Sarah Lowe and Molly Jacobson ran what I believe are PRs in 17:19 and 17:26, respectively.

Maggie Mullen with a great jav performance, breaking the old meet record to finish second with a 156 foot throw.

The 4x1 of Manning, Wright, Sanderson, and McGinnis ran a season's best of 45.53 to pick up the win, while the 4x4 of McGinnis, Sanderson, Caldwell, and Cousar ran sub-par 3:41 to finish second.

1st day of the Big Ten Championships...

Maggie Mullen finished 3rd and Alexis Thomas finished 7th in the hammer throw to start the Championships out well for the Buckeyes. Ashley Galbraith is in 5th place after day 1 of the heptathlon and if she has a good day tomorrow could move up a few spots. The women are tied for 2nd with Michigan and Indiana, each with 8 points... they are all 2 points being Minnesota. The Buckeyes have 3 women in the 10K later tonight.
