2010 BPCFFB League #2 Season Thread

Anyone out there have any opinions on two extra bench spots (and draft picks) versus one? One more is obviously the bare minimum for the extra spot, but it is also harder to have a legitimate 3rd starter at both positions.

The flip side is that the waiver wire is less entertaining with more bench space to stash players.

Good points. Would you rather scale it back to QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, D?

It will also make things a hell of a lot easier with player add/drops during the season
Are they instantaneous and unlimited, other than on gameday (where you might have to wait for sunday to drop a starter)?

The way it appears on the site is that there basically isn't a "waiver" system. So it looks to me, that you can add/drop whenever as long as the player isn't already playing. I'll shoot them an email just to double check.

Let's hear your thoughts lurkers

No, my preference would be:

3 RB 3 WR +2 Draft/Roster spot
3 RB 3 WR +1 Draft/Roster spot
2 RB 2 WR +0 Draft/Roster spot

I'm onboard with either of the first two but not a big fan of the last one. I would say that even if I had not gone RB three times, the last one makes it easier on a weaker roster.

I agree with you there. Having a less # of players on the bench will probably make people pay attention more and be more "active" when it comes to add/dropping players.

Alright guys, Athlon Sports is offering a free fantasy league. We can customize everything to our settings except for the following: No flex spot (however we can add a 3rd RB, 3rd WR or both), playoffs are for the top 4 teams (regardless of division).

If we want to do this, we can add 1 more round to our draft and draft an extra RB/WR and add that extra roster spot. Let me know what you guys want to do. Personally, I'd like to see us go with Athlon, just so it makes everything easier and we won't have to complete our own stats. This is the site that we used for our first year.

If we were to go with Athlon I'd like to see our starting roster be QB, RB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, D, K & 10 bench spots
I don't know not having that flex position really affects my entire draft. Shoot, I might not have even drafted Pryor is that flex position had not been there:biggrin2:

In all seriousness, there probably are other guys doing this draft who have played fantasy much more than me so I will leave it up to you guys. I know it saves the Commissioner a lot of work since he did some extra calculating our first year when we were at Athlon (which I just opted out from). I will go with whatever the group wants but I do think a decision needs to be made before someone drafts another tight end, kicker or defense says we will need three RB's and three WRs.

Another option would be to add a WR3 & RB3 position but only fill one of them each week.

The problem with that is if someone forgets or is out of town, the commissioner would need access to all accounts to remove double #3 starters, then maybe he removes the wrong guy, etc.

I am with whatever you guys want. I really like the flex though but understand that Athlon makes things easier.
I am a little surprised that you are willing to see more bench players which would mean less players available for the waiver wire. As I recall, you were a big waiver man last season:)

I don't think anyone will really be against 3 RB & 3 WR. It's only adding 1 additional starter. Now we just have to figure out if we want to add an additional bench spot or just leave it the way it is.

I'll be sending out PMs to get everyone's email addy's so I can send you an invite to the Athlon site.

3 WR/ 3 RB is cool with me, flex shmex.
Really, the flex position is really hard to define. I know that the scoring is different for a flex guy but what's the big difference between a extra WR or RB or a flex guy. To me they're all the same. I give my vote to the Commissioner.
