I thought this was pretty fair honesty. For anyone who watched Persa for Northwestern this season, he was simply phenomenal. He would've had my vote for first team. He had almost no help and still had huge performances all season. Dude is the real deal. Now 2nd team QB...debatable imo. Robinson had a huge year and there is no taking that away. Tolzien is a great QB but with the offense of Wisky doesn't equate to a first team selection...he just didn't throw the ball enough.

Pryor had a great season imo and I'm no hater, but he also didn't hit the expectations of a 1st team Big 10 player. Sometimes he had "Wow, he's good" plays and then would make a "Wow, that looked like freshman year" plays. He just didn't have the consistency to win it. I want him as my QB for sure, but trying to be unbiased, he didn't have a better year than Persa.

Glad to see Adams get 1st team...great year for the big fella. He went from possibly not starting to garnering 1st team honors. Nice. Then Dane and Boom defintely deserve it. Side note...that 1st team line is unreal. Should be all first round picks.

Random thoughts:

1. I'm frankly flummoxed by the lack of recognition of Devon Torrence. He had, I believe, an outstanding season.

First off, I commed the word "flummoxed"...the next chance I can use that in context, I'm going for it :biggrin:

Torrence had some great plays this year, but he got beat a lot. A lot. I love his tackling but he got beat alot not only in games, but reportedly he had some rough goes at it in practice and was flustered much of the season. I don't want to go into more detail than that but he did not have the season he was hoping for coverage-wise.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ten student-athletes from the six-time defending Big Ten champion Ohio State Buckeyes, including seven seniors, were named first-team all-Big Ten Conference today by either a vote of the conference head coaches, a vote of the conference media or in five cases, both.
First-team all-Big Ten Buckeyes as selected by both the coaches and the media are defensive lineman Cameron Heyward, receiver Dane Sanzenbacher, linebacker Brian Rolle, cornerback Chimdi Chekwa and offensive tackle tackle Mike Adams.
Those Buckeyes named first-team all-Big Ten by the coaches include running back Dan "Boom" Herron, linebacker Ross Homan and safety Jermale Hines. Additional first-team media choices were offensive guard Justin Boren and center Mike Brewster.

The honors for the seniors was most fitting when one considers the remarkable run of success the members of this class have been a part of, including...
  • Never not winning or sharing a Big Ten Conference championship, and in the process...
  • Extending Ohio State's run of Big Ten championships to a record-tying six consecutive;
  • Winning 43 games the last three-plus years against only eight losses;
  • Winning 28 of 32 games against Big Ten Conference opponents;
  • Helping Ohio State become the only FBS school with five consecutive AP Top 10 finishes; and
  • Extending Ohio States streak of 10-or-more-win seasons to a Big Ten record six consecutive years.
"Our seniors...they're just first-class," Coach Jim Tressel said in his post-game comments Saturday. "They do things the way you're supposed to do them. They're unselfish. They don't care if they have the spotlight and all they want to do is help Ohio State."

More Quotes:
  • "It's a huge honor to be selected for the all-conference team in a league with so much great talent across the board as the Big Ten." - Dane Sanzenbacher
  • "I am extremely honored and proud to be named to the all-Big Ten team." - Mike Brewster
  • "This is a huge honor. I am humbled to be chosen with all the great talent in the Big Ten this year." - Justin Boren
  • "This honor is just a blessing and a dream come true. It belongs also to my teammates at running back and all our offensive linemen." - Dan "Boom" Herron
  • "I am excited an honored to recognized as one of the best in the Big Ten. It's a tribute not just to me, but to my teammates. I thank God for this opportunity." - Chimdi Chekwa
  • "An honor like this means the world to me. To say that I am all-Big Ten is truly a blessing because that was one of my goals from the day I entered college. I have always wanted to be a part of that elite group." - Cameron Heyward
  • "I am humbled and a little overwhelmed. And to have so many Buckeyes on the team is really sweet." - Ross Homan
  • "Thank you, Jesus, for all the opportunities, and thanks to my teammates and coaches for all we have done together." - Brian Rolle
  • "Wow! This is an amazing honor and a dream come true." - Jermale Hines

The players quotes are all "politically correct"; I just wonder how many really thought: "Hey, I worked my ass off all year, I beat the [censored] out of everyone I played against, nobody was better than me, I [censored]ing deserved it."

I also noticed "I'm a fucking soldier!" didn't pop out of anyone's mouth in those interviews.

Odd.

I totally get TP's frustration but it was a strange Big Ten QB year. Lots of very good QB's this year. TP owns every Ohio State record but one and he'll get that one next year, but the awards are not career awards.
Winning takes care of everything TP! :biggrin:

he is not very happy per that social app we do not speak of.
leaving the game, i was listening to a short sirius phone interview with pryor. he was adamant that individual awards don't matter to him now. specifically mentioning the national championship, all he wants is a team award. two different national media platforms; two very different statements.

I'm cool with Persa. Shoelaces though can eabod. Miles of stats and inches of victories.

Yeah Northwestern is a 3 win team without Persa. He was clearly a very good QB for them. 1st team Big Ten? Maybe, maybe not, but he deserves some recognition. I'd think he would be more towards the player of the year, but for some reason Hairlice got that one even though he begs out of games....
