Pleased with who the Canucks have brought in so far... Probably gave up too much for Ballard, but they badly needed defense. Hamhuis is a huge get on D as well, and he gave the canucks a hometown discount. Add to that Malhotra, who is an all around solid player, this team should be even more dangerous next year.

The Wings still desperately need a power forward like what Bertuzzi used to be to drive the net.

And I seriously hope they don't pick up Modano. Getting Hudler back is bad enough, but they already have enough players who float around the perimeter - adding Modano won't help that at all either. Maybe 10 years ago, certainly, but not now.

I agree that they do need a Power Forward, but hopefully if Franzen can stay healthy, he can fill that role somewhat. Maybe we can pull off a trade with the little cap room we have and get a power guy to play the wing. Lord knows we already have enough players who can play center...
-Datstuk
-Zetteberg
-Filpula
-Hudler
-Darren Helm
-Kris Draper
-Modano if need be.

But like I said, with the little cap room they have to spare, I can't see anyone to great being acquired this off season.

On a side not, wouldn't have minded seeing them go after Big Buff a little bit. Sure their division rivals, but lets not forget how hated Chris Chelios was in Detroit until he was traded.

Pens got a little more money to sign a winger too. If I was Shero I'd trade Kunitz and his 3.75 million dollar salarie and get someone who can actually pu the puck in the net. Right now the Pens got a top 5 defense, but I'm a little concerned with who's actually going to play next to sid.

Bet Staal moves to 2nd line to play with Malkin.

From what I've heard, Tangradi will make the team, Nick Johnson will get time, Staal will get time on Malkin's line (and I'd imagine that means Letestu will play on the third line).

Would be surprised if they moved Kunitz, he's effective even when he's not scoring. I bet the move Dupuis and/or maybe Godard if they can find someone to take him.

Really wanted them to get Ray Whitney.. he's a Coyote.. Paul Kariya would be a nice addition if he doesn't want too much. Which he probably will.

Kovalchuk is a Devil. 17 years/$6M per year is what the rumored contract is at this point.

Apparently the Kings offered 15 years/$80M. Wouldn't have taken much to match New Jersey's offer.. kind of odd..

He's freakin 27 and wants 17 years? That means he'd be making around 7 million a season as a 40+ year old player. If I was anyone in the NHL i'd let his ass walk to the KHL what a waste of cap space because unlike Crosby he doesn't make the players around him better. The Devils would EVENTUALLY be a better team without him.

Yeah I wanted Whitney too. Great faceoff guy! I'm excited to see what Tangradi can do, but I personally feel we could better spend the 3.75 mil that Kunitz got on a winger. Kunitz is the same type of player Dupuis is with less speed. Both are skaters who hit and can chip in here and there. Difference is Duper makes like 1.2 million and is durable. If it was a perfect world (in my world of course) we'd trade Kunitz and get a guy capable of 20+ goals. We got enough guys who can check like Talbot, Kennedy, Cooke, Adams, Godard, and Dupuis.

The contract was front-loaded, he was only going to be making $550,000 for the last 6 or so years of the contract.

Contract isn't allowed anyways. :tongue2:
