2010-11 bowl projections

  • Can't believe it's November already, but here we are and Stewart Mandel makes a pass at the bowls.

    BCS title: Oregon vs Auburn
Orange: Virginia Tech vs Ohio State
    Sugar: LSU vs Boise State
    Rose: Wisconsin vs TCU

That line up wouldn't upset me, assuming all hell doesn't break lose and open the door for something more for the Buckeyes, of course.

    Oh yeah, the Fiesta?

    Nebraska vs Pittsburgh :sleep2:

    Who gets screwed?

    Alamo: Stanford vs Oklahoma State

Things can, and probably will, change. But as long as we're stuck with no playoff it'll be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Would love to see us play VT. Similar-but-much-worse coach.

    Rest of B10:

    Texas: Illinois v. Baylor
    Insight: Missouri v. Michigan (lol)
    Capital One: Alabama v. Iowa
    Outback: Michigan State v. Florida
Dallas Classic: Northwestern v. Texas Tech

If this is true, B10 would probably go either 4-3 or 3-4. OSU and Wiscy should be favorites, and we have decent chances in the NW v. TT, Mich St. v. Florida, and Illi v. Baylor bowls. No way Michigan or Iowa would win, IMO.

I'd like to see Ohio State play Boise State in the Rose bowl and kick the crap out of them. I'm sick and tired of seeing them play a "nothing schedule and get ranked in the top 5; and people saying they deserve to be in the BCS Championship game. A 2 loss Alabama team is "light years" better than the no loss Bosie State. If they would happen to beat Ohio State them (maybe) I would concede that they are that good.

I tend to agree with you - I WANT to agree with you. But the only yardstick we have currently is when they played Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl - and managed to win. Do I think they deserve to be in the NC race with the schedule they play? Hell no! But that schedule makes it very difficult to tell for sure whether they ARE better than the top teams in the BCS conferences.

The thing that gets me wondering is how they(Boise State) went from a 1-AA division team to the rank that they now have and have been controlling for over 5 or 6 years now. The year they beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl
i was really surprised at the outcome. I guess that game really made believers out of alot of people. Thier OOC schedule really does not give you and idea how good they are, other than this year when they played Virginia Tech, who at the time was ranked pretty high. This is one team that i would love to see get thier asses kicked real good before the bowls start up but i
don't see that happening. And how many of us are already tired of seeing that damn blue field...............Come on Man.

Let's look at that yardstick a little closer. Oklahoma has lost their last 5 BCS bowls. The closest they came to winning one was their OT loss to BSU.

Meanwhile, unbeatable Boise is 2-4 their last 6 bowl games, including that win over Oklahoma.

Choklahoma gets off the hook somehow though and OSU doesn't.

You missed Gator: Penn State vs Mississippi State. I think the Lions are improving and would have a legit shot to win, as they did versus LSU last year.

The last bowl projections from CFN and ESPN both have Ohio State in the Capital One Bowl. Michigan State would have to pass the Bucks, but even if that happens, I feel like the Buckeyes would be a more attractive pick than Sparty or Bucky for an at-large, unless they both have tOSU losing to Iowa.

Well anyway, here's my 2 cents:

If Ohio State does not get the Big Ten's automatic bid:
    Fiesta Bowl: Nebraska vs. Pittsburgh
Orange Bowl: LSU vs. Virginia Tech
    Rose Bowl:Boise State vs. Wisconsin
Sugar Bowl: Auburn vs. Ohio State
BCS National Championship: Oregon vs. TCU

Rose Bowl:Boise State vs. Ohio State
Sugar Bowl: Auburn vs. Michigan State
BCS National Championship: Oregon vs. TCU
