It couldn't have gotten any worse today. Why didnt Bucky run clay up the middle more, like WTF. Thats how you tire out a defense, then you run Ball, and White. Penn state could have won, but man is they're QB horrible. Alabama is a solid team, but still Michigan state got beat up way to bad. And tSUN, what can we say, they suck! If we loose, all were gonna hear is how slow we are, and how much we suck. We need this win

It seems like no shock that the Big Ten lost all the games yesterday. Only Wisconsin was a team that held itself with any consistency all year and they faced off against a top-notch hungry TCU team.

Every other bowl match-up had the Big Ten teams face off against teams that have a consistent game plan (sans Florida). Miss. State knew it was going to run the ball almost all the time and pass occasionally. They did that, and did it well against a shitty Michigan defense.

Alabama was just too much for Michigan State in every facet. Florida-Penn State was simply a crapshoot. NW-TTech should not have been close, but the Wildcats showed heart.

It was a game day that just had too few quality Big Ten teams with too few quality players. But if Ohio State wins, the conference will have gone 3-5. Its not the worst thing in the world considering that the Big Ten is mired in a strange transition phase that isn't really transitioning.

Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State are trending up but will hardly ever have the "talent" edge in any match-up; even TCU against Wisconsin probably was even in terms of star-power. Michigan, Penn State are trending down when the conference needs them to provide at least "quality". Those last two schools need new coaches. I wish we were back in the 02-04 years in terms of depth and quality, but some of the programs just haven't matured like the fine wine that is Ohio State.

If Penn State finds a QB again and some youthful enthusiasm, they can be that 8-10 win contender who can beat most teams in a bowl. Iowa and Michigan State need to find a stud RB like the Javon Ringer, Shonn Greene days (glad the Hawkeyes took care of Missouri) so that when their typically inconsistent passing game falters, they can churn out productive drives based on sheer Big Ten tenacity. Wisconsin needs less Les Miles for a coach and more... win?

The best coach in the Big Ten not named Tressel is Fitzgerald but unfortunately for the conference, Northwestern will never have the talent to consistently beat opponents in the Big Ten's marquee bowl-games.

Really though, I'm just fine and dandy with our rival programs getting destroyed. Love it. I wish the system were in place where some of us didn't feel like we had to root for the other conference teams. If Penn State plays Florida and this were the NFL playoffs or something, I don't want Nittany Lion fans feeling anything resembling joy.

Fuck TSUN.

As bad as the Big 10 showed yesterday, they still went 2-1 over the Big 12 this bowl season. The ACC/PAC 10/Big East are nothing special either. How many bowl teams did the Pac 10 have? Even scUM beat the Big East champ. The Big 10 can easily make the argument it's the 2nd best conference. There is a just a massive gap between 1 and 2.

Last decade per Steele. (FWIW, I'm not using it to advocate a position so much as throwing it out there )

FIFY :p

I used to buy his preview magazines as it's very detailed until you read the magazine and realize it's mostly a history book than a preview of the upcoming season. He does do a lot with numbers/stats which I do find interesting...FWIW

Thing is, I personally do not think that the numbers are good for more than about four or five years. A string of losses ten years ago has no bearing on your chances today in an indivudual contest. I think that the stat showing the SEC win record in BCS games and against ranked teams is the strongest argument we have as to "strongest" conference.

But if we play today, the fact that Bama beat someone in 2002 will be of no help to me. I think the SEC is the premier conference. I also think that opinion has zilch to do with the game on Tuesday as a predictor of success versus the piggies.

Case in point: the strong performances vs the SEC in all of the annual B10/SEC bowl matchups and their relevance to how OSU did.

It's All My Fault

It's all my fault. I rooted for the Big 10 teams in every game including Michigan. Therein lies the root cause of the debacle. I even rooted for the Skunkerines to do well and win. What was I thinking? Serves me right.:(

Go Bucks.....beat those Hogs!
