That's where you can't see the trees for the forest. My first post simply stated that I didn't agree with giving the edge to OSU's RBs and O-line. Then that was misconstrued as me putting down the blog writers. I then offered my reasoning, in my "experienced/professional" opinion, meaning that my comments were coming from an honest/professional place and not from a personal/vindictive place that was meant to demean anyone's comments.

My "career" isn't on the internet, but I started my website b/c I enjoy creating/taking part in discussion. But not in "arguments" where people are going to skew statements to act like I'm claiming superiority rather than simply stating where my thoughts are coming from.

I've tried to stay out of this, and I'm not trying to pile on, but I can't leave that bolded part alone. Your first post looked like this:

Ohio State gets the edge in running backs and O-line?? c'mon now!

By just stating "c'mon now", and not providing any explanation regarding why you thought tOSU didn't have an advantage in the O-line, the critique of the preview got off on the wrong foot. Also, having an error stating that the preview gave tOSU the edge at OL (an error you admitted and edited in your post after it was pointed out), made if harder to initiallly accept whatever point you were trying to make in that post.

These previews go more in-depth than most other game previews. If I'm not mistaken, the video preview that you linked only mentioned the name of two Badgers (Clay and Tolzien). I realize there's only so much that can be said in a video limited to a few minutes, and I'm not trying to put down your video previews; but if you want to have your criticisms of a more in-depth preview taken seriously, your inital post in this thread was not a good start.

If your first post had said something like "Wiscy's O-line has paved the way for a solid running game so far, and has only yielded two sacks in 5 games, so I don't think the Buckeyes should have the edge in the O-line", I think there would be a great deal fewer posts discussing the topic. If you wish to post contrasting views in future game preview threads, I'd suggest using such an approach.

Personally, I don't think the game result proves either position. Neither O-Line had a very solid game, and the domination of Wiscy's O-line could be attributed to the great performance of tOSU's very deep D-line, whereas only Schofield had a big impact on the game from Wiscy's D-line.

Once again, I'm not trying to gang up on you here, I'm trying to explain why your critiques were received with such contention by a few folks here, and how such situations can be minimized going forward.

EDIT - my response was so long-winded that the Fungo/BK guy pointed out the same thing already

"If you're going to debate, at least do it logically"

"Your inexperience is showing..."

I'll definitely apologize for these two comments, I felt attacked and I came back with these comments. It was rather immature to resort to some sort of bickering match

Any thoughts of me thinking I'm superior are coming from your own minds, wish I could change that.
Sometimes when things start off on the wrong foot, everyone settles in and it just gets worse. Probably best to move on over to this week's thread and start fresh.

I think we'd like hearing your experience come through the comments, just not as a rubber stamp that's supposed to stop the discussion. This group is good at letting things go when they decide someone genuinely wants to be part of the conversation, so we can probably just go with that and move forward.

Haha, only if all arguments in the world could be forgiven with this answer! Green my friend
HA! Now you've won most of us over, but Scott Terna is going to want to fight you. :lol:

I did read that description of the run game, which makes it all the more interesting that the RB edge would fall to OSU. Also considering that last sentence is "the match up is basically even." And then the edge states "Ohio State." My post was ultimately misread b/c I just meant to create some discussion. To read into "...OSU gets the edge? C'mon now" as me calling anyone a homer or being an idiot, is the biggest assumption I've ever seen. I get blatant disagreements of my opinion all the time, but I'm not going to take those personally. the point is to start discussion, there's no personal vendettas on here...unfortunately my original post got lost in translation b/c it was only meant to question the opinion and start some conversation

I was using the material RB comparison I included as what I thought might have better provoked some thoughtful discussion as opposed to "C'mon now!" I happen to agree with you regarding the running backs, I just would have expressed my disagreement with the "RB Edge: OSU" differently than you did.

EDIT - BB73 is far more eloquent than me. Must come with age or something.

As well as his thoughts on no-touch icing!

I stated my reasons upon being asked,

"I disagree b/c the Badger offensive line has only given up 2 sacks ALL season! Plus when we're deciding strengths we're not talking about "potential" or perceived upside...what have they done for us lately!? Thus John Clay has the edge over the OSU RBs.

QB = Wisconsin (game mgmt/passing); OSU (running)
RB = Wisconsin
TE = Wisconsin
WR = Ohio State

Defense = Ohio State"

the debate at that point was great! and then people had to take things personally. we were having a nice conversation about UW's strength of schedule and why Tolzien gets the edge over Pryor. And then all of a sudden someone decides to take a comment in the wrong way. My original "c'mon now" was just an exclamation of my disagreeing...nothing more. Especially given the fact that the preview talked so highly of UW's RBs.

As far as my previews go, if you've seen any of my older ones they go 8-9min strong but I had to cut them down for the average fan. I'll go as deep as anyone wants, about any game in the country...which is why I get involved in blogs all over the internet during the week! This is blogging debate, it's not personal. It's dangerous to read into typed words when you can't hear the inflection in someone's voice. Not fair to come down on the negative side automatically. I'd rather we just went our separate ways at this point under the flag of mutual misunderstanding.
