This weekend should be a great benchmark of where this Ohio State team is at, a young group still trying to find out who they are. Should be fun to watch them come of age against a solid Wisconsin team. I'm worried about John Clay getting loose, the guy can flat out play. TE Garrett Graham a great asset for a team with a new QB, the Buckeye LB's will be tested. Will the Badgers be able to hold Ohio State's passing game in check? Can the Buckeyes' O-line handle O'Brien Schofield off the edge? Saturday approaches...

Strengths:
QBs = Wisconsin (game mgmt/passing), OSU (running)
RBs = Wisconsin
TE = Wisconsin
WR = Ohio State
OL = Wisconsin

DL = Ohio State
LB = Ohio State
DB= Ohio State

I dissected the film and the numbers, here's my take on the upcoming match-up!
Preview: #25 Wisconsin vs. #9 Ohio State

Ohio State gets the edge in running backs and O-line?? c'mon now!

I disagree b/c the Badger offensive line has only given up 2 sacks ALL season! Plus when we're deciding strengths we're not talking about "potential" or perceived upside...what have they done for us lately!? Thus John Clay has the edge over the OSU RBs.

QB = Wisconsin (game mgmt/passing); OSU (running)
RB = Wisconsin
TE = Wisconsin
WR = Ohio State

Defense = Ohio State

Funny how "Even" became an advantage for Ohio State on the OL, but whatever...I guess reading comprehension isn't necessary to trash the previews and post your own.

I retracted my O-line statement, I misread that part...however I still disagree with it being even as well as the RB edge to OSU. So what you're saying is I can't disagree and then offer my professional/experienced opinion on the game? I don't think disagreeing would classify as "trashing" any previews

I listened to a professional/experienced opinion coming from the BTN last week on how the Indiana DEs were going to spin the OSU O line like tops. How did that work out? Now I am reading how one Wisky DE is going to dominate the Buckeye O line - not buying it for 1 minute. Not only am I not buying it, Wisky's kick coverage is piss poor and will give OSU great field position opportunities for which I believe OSU will capitalize. That is my nonprofessional experienced opinion.

you missed the boat on that one, professional/experienced opinion has nothing to do with being right or wrong. I was explaining where my opinion was coming from, it wasn't coming from a malicious intent or an intent to trash anyone's comment.

The 5 other times that the Buckeyes carried a #1 ranking into a game against the Badgers were all against Woody Hayes squads between 1964 to 1975. The average score in those games was 44-3, with the closest game being a 24-0 game in Madison in 1973.
You guys all do a great job with these previews, and I don't mean to nitpick, but I think there is a typo there. Probably should be "WITH" instead of "against." Completely changes the meaning of the sentence. I cringed a little when I saw that. :biggrin: Go Bucks!

Old fart reporting for duty: 1962, A tough year for Woody. Undefeated in 61 (but tied), the OSU faculty council voted to refuse an invitation to the 62 Rose Bowl. Other coaches were quick to tell recruits that OSU wouldn't be going to Rose Bowls in the future. Add to that the fact that graduation took much of the talent of the 61 National Champs. Wisconsin came into town ranked #1 with a passing combination of Ron Vander Kelen to Pat Richter, both being boosted for All American status. Woody put Paul Warfield into the defensive backfield to cover Richter one-on-one. Warfield held Richter to one insignificant catch and OSU won 14 to 7.

The Badgers would go on to win the Big 10 and then lose to USC in spectacular fashion in the fog at the Rose Bowl. Vander Kelen would have a brief career in the NFL and Richter would get the big bucks by signing with the newest baseball francise, the LA Angels.

Sack on the first play...maybe they aren't so invincible after all.

5 sacks, 11 hits on the QB so far, Clay had what...50 yards? Is the professional and experienced opinion that maybe we knew a bit more about what we were talking about now?
