We are constantly reminded that scUM leads the all-time historic series against Ohio State 57 - 43 - 6. We also know that Ohio State leads the modern series starting at various points in the twentieth century. Rather than pick a random year and calculate who leads the series since, let's put these statistics in perspective.
Ask yourself: "Starting from year X, which team leads the series, and by how much?" Here's the answer. (I got the data from Wikipedia, and counted each tie as half a win for each team.)
Notice that Ohio State leads the series since every year going back to 1989, the start of the Cooper era. This is due in large part to one Jim Tressel.
(Speaking of Tress, notice how the two curves flatline on the right. I wonder what that means.
)
Also, while scUM leads going back to years before World War I, since 1918 the two teams' leads hone in the 50% line, with a marked period of dominance for the good guys in the middle.
So the next time a scUM fan mouths off about stuff that happened when Austria-Hungary was still a great empire and William McKinley was president, remind them of this point.

The Devin Gardner news would suck if I were a Michigan fan (I just threw up a bit in my mouth). His skill set/potential is higher than any QB on the Michigan roster IMO and he had the chance to "dethrone" Forcier if he came in early.

If he doesn't bump Tate during fall camp... I don't see him getting another shot until Tate leaves....or Tate gets hurt..or the wheels come al the way off and RR makes a change.
I see those three possibilities as just about equally likely...but I wouldn't be surprised if Devin red shirted in 2010, and then was asked to sit behind Tate in '11 and '12....leaving two years for Devin as the starter.
Will he be that patient if he can't beat Tate out this fall an Tate stays healthy?

This will make it hard for Devin to supplant Tate, but make no mistake, if Tate cannot become the ideal quarterback for RR's system, he will not leave him in the dust.
Now, if RR were fired after this season, then I think there's a solid chance Devin could get stuck behind tate, with a new offensive scheme coming in, say Jim Harbaugh.
There's also the matter of fit and upside. Tate is a good quarterback but not a particularly effective designed runner, and doesn't give UM the true running threat they crave for that offense. As for upside, he's also had a professional qb coach for over a decade. In contrast Devin still lacks some of the basics at the quarterback position, but shows the potential to execute them in time.
Now, if RR were fired after this season, then I think there's a solid chance Devin could get stuck behind tate, with a new offensive scheme coming in, say Jim Harbaugh.
Unless Tate gets his hands on some popeye spinach, avoiding injury seems like a tall order.

...and the "factions" garbage? Um, there wouldn't be factions if you didn't hire a shady asshole as your coach. Look at his track record since he arrived...ugly divorce from his old job where he comes off looking like the villain, lawsuits, on field debacles, accusations from departing players, PR gaffe after PR gaffe, an NCAA investigation into wrongdoings...all this in barely two years. I would think there would be issues within the alumni/administration/fanbase. Geeze, people. Wake up and takr a look around.
