2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

Who gives a flying [censored]? I could care less about the academic standing of the athletes as long as they stay eligible. About the only schools that I can think of off the top of my head that really hold the student athletes to a higher degree would be Notre Dame, Stanford, and Duke. And even then, Notre Lame is questionable in my book. My buddy in HS had a 3.9 GPA with great test scores and was not accepted into Notre Dame. I guarantee they bend their guidelines for athletes.

Actually OSU has had several kids clear the NCAA only to not be accepted by OSU.

PSU just had one this year.

I don't really care about that..but I can tell you who *used* to care about scholar athlete academics: UM fans.

If you think your brethren haven't been preaching about academic superiority since JT started beating UM on the gridiron...you are blind.

Oh...he doesn't have good grades? Must be a Tressel recruit then...we don't want him. We are Michigan.

NOW not only are you not winning...but clearly you are also not academically superior wrt to athletes..and if anything you are actually softer there than OSU, PSU, Miami, ND, and several other schools that don't fancy themselves as the Harvard of their geographic area.

So maybe those comments are not relevant to YOU..but certainly much of the UM fan base has mocked OSU academics, specifically wrt athletes, for a long time...and now....well..........

Nobody here would really care except this is an issue years in the making by UM fans, not OSU fans. Now crow is fast becoming an endangered species in Michigan.

The Audobon Society may end up suing RRod if the crow population continues to shrink at the current alarming rate.

I think you can even add some other Big 10 schools on that list.

Your entire fanbase did. For a long long long time. Or do you not remember the crying you all did over what Jim Harbaugh had to say?

Just another thing RR has fucked up at that school.

From the mgoblog.com article

At the rate he is going, defensive coordinators/head coaches are going to figure him out before he gets it up to speed. Pretty soon what RR is working on is going to fall out of favor when the next flavor of the month comes around.

Also
I believe the two run different offenses.
It doesn't matter what type of offense RR runs, he will never get on Tressel's or Carroll's level. He'll be lucky to make it to a bowl game this year!

First, you picked the wrong schools there. Duke makes enormous concessions for basketball players, Notre Dame makes far larger concessions than they care to admit for football players. Stanford is a pretty solid example. Second, and going back to the Notre Dame example, and your Michigan Man question of "who gives a flying fuck?", I'd say, it's the proponents of the false myth who give a flying fuck. If you're indifferent to the myth of the Michigan football student/athlete, that's fine by me, but you'd be better suited to lecture some of your cohort on that score, than to lecture me about what you "could" (Michigan Man edit: "couldn't") care less about.

He [censored]ed it by up taking 1 player met all the qualifications minus 1 portion of the bogus OGT test that Ohio has.

No he fucked up your ability to act like Michigan football players get a better education than they could have gotten at other football powers.

Pre-Dick Rod: Michigan fans can and do (repeatedly) run their mouths about how their academics are a reason kids should chose their school over the Ohio State's and Florida's of the world.

Dick Rod gets hired

Post-Dick Rod hire: The notion that Michigan football players get a better education than other schools is completely destroyed.

Yeah, I'd say he fucked it up.

There are a couple of solutions here.

One - TSUN can stop recruiting players from Ohio - that solves the problem for you.

Two - You can stop posting such utter stupidity on this board.
