Scout.com: Journalist Mike Rothstein says Turner is cleared
Via twitter, Rothstein claims that J.T. Turner is cleared academically. Haven't read anything on Witty yet. He has been really close with practices and keeping up with the latest on Michigan, so hoping this is true.

RE: Journalist Mike Rothstein says Turner is cleared

Well I hope evans or helmuth return,...depth is already scary...and players are going to have to start moving just for depth reasons...

Great news on Turner...

Witty, I watched his film and knowing his injury, you can see it. Now I want to see it.....I thought he was way underrated before and maizeman really reaffirmed what I already knew.....

btw, turner and witty add some much needed height to the cb position, esp if witty is cleared.....and would allow safety recruiting to take center stage....
He is right on Turner....and Evans and Helmuth too. To me it's good news all around...

Witty still undetermined...and let me say this on the young man....

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED on him because he's FAR BETTER than his 2* rating....Maizeman has been highly impressed already...

two more leave the team Helmuth and Evans..... not sure why

also Justin Turner is officially on the team Justin Turner Is Officially A Go | mgoblog

Probably didn't want to be champions.

And it baffles my mind how a kid without a diploma can go to college for free. I graduated with a 3.5 and good test scores and was accepted, but no help for me.

(I know, I obviously don't play football, but still. And I go to OSU. )

"Over on the defensive side, the safeties appeared to have a lot of trouble catching balls out of the Juggs machine during an interception drill. Time after time, balls would hit off of their hands and go bouncing down the field. This, too, could be the reason they aren't wide receivers."
What? tsun has requirements for becoming a slot dot!?!1! WTF!

He passed his OGT's therefore giving him a diploma.

What are the requirements for getting a diploma? Does GPA have anything to do with it, or is it just attendance and the OGT scores?

Serious question, because this doesn't really make sense to me.

Or maybe they wanted to transfer to a school where they would play. Its a blow to the depth chart but does open up two scholarship's.

You took my comment seriously. Do you really think that I hold the opinion that they would have been champions if they stayed?

Wasn't Evans backing up the highly untested Herron at the Quick position?

Is there documentation of this? I've been out of the loop, but my understanding was that this was more clearinghouse than OGT related.

UM's staff was expecting him to be a wolverine this fall with or without improvement on the OGT score.

Turner had a 3.4 GPA and a high SAT score all he needed was the 1 portion of the OGT to get his diploma.

U-M freshman Turner ready to practice; 2 players transferring | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
Freshman cornerback Justin Turner, who was waiting to be cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse, has qualified and will practice Thursday, U-M coach Rich Rodriguez said after today’s practice. Junior linebacker Marell Evans and defensive tackle Vince Helmuth have taken the other route and are transferring to other schools.
The statuses of freshman cornerback Adrian Witty and senior quarterback Jason Forcier, a graduate student, remain in flux, though Rodriguez expects to know more about Forcier on Thursday.
NOTEBOOK: Freshman tailback Teric Jones has moved to cornerback. …
A slot/RB to D.
Kelvin Grady, who came over from the basketball team, has impressed enough in the first few days that Rodriguez said Grady “is going to play for us this year… We have a position (slot receiver) that fits him perfectly.” …
Rodriguez said he was not the Wolverines’ vote in the top 25 coaches poll because “we’ve got to deserve it.” But he has used the Wolverines’ low ranking in national predictions as a motivator for his team.

Evans was the backing up Herron last year not sure what changed since.

No proven LINK on if Turner got his diploma thats just what i'm hearing.

It seems like he'd be 1 snap away from seeing action there (whether due to injury or poor play by herron)... it's not like he was stuck behind cissoko or ezeh. There is skepticism in UM's camp about whether Herron will be effective at the Quick position.

He may not have been any good either as the #2 guy, it just seems interesting that he'd leave now.
