2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

Most of these are decent contributions, actually
#3, #5, #6, #7 & #8 are little more than 'michigan is getting a good one, and here's why'. How is that a useful contribution in an archive of buckeye recruiting, particularly when none of the threads were active at the time? Only 1 of those was actually targeted by OSU, and he's been headed to UM for years.
Maybe those posts should go under the Pace and Williamson threads on recruitingplanet, fine.
1) I can't move them between websites.
2) I shouldn't have to clean up his clutter.

Other fanbases have often enjoyed our structure and approach for recruiting, which is why we created recruitingplanet, to give them the platform for those conversations and celebrations. Illinois fans in particular were overstepping their bounds here but have thrived and been big contributors on RP.

I never thought of the recruiting forum on Buckeyeplanet as solely about the Buckeyes

I'm not an OSU fan and I check this site all the time to see what people have to say about the Ohio players and about shared recruits (I even brave the TSUN NEWS board because there's sometimes good info among the homerism).

There's nothing like this site for Michigan recruiting (no, recruitingplanet does not cut it), so I imagine you get quite a bit of UM-fan traffic -- especially to the threads about players committed to UM. So I imagine there are lots of readers who are interested in those threads. Of course, you need to maintain the identity of this forum as OSU-centered, but it's not like he's starting whole new threads or anything.

I always thought of this site as welcoming other schools' fans as long as they're respectful. Going after biggiesmalls just seems like it's against the norm for over here. Maybe he just rubbed you the wrong way?

The recruiting forum here has always been OSU-centric. Bumping old threads just to drool all over TSUN recruits adds nothing to this board. That's what this particular thread is for. I like the recruiting forum because I can get up-to-date info on current tOSU recruits. I don't want to go in there and see 5-6 threads that have been dormant for weeks or months bumped for a tsun fan praising one of DickRod's slot commitments.

Just heard on WTKA this morning that Fitz Toussaint has qualified. Good news for UM. Could be a big contributor in a few years.
Good to see he took the Forcier advice to reach "these minimums that will typically satisfy most universities." And I have little doubt that he "check[ed] with with the athletic academic advisor at the university of choice"

I don't know about Michigan's academic advisors, but I do know that Ohio State boasts at least (4) who are quite athletic. One, I'm told, runs a 4.39 forty (sub 4.4 40)

Apparently this is in the 'pretty, pretty, pretty good' category, not quite confirmed yet. Still, wanted to quote this because he's unlikely to be the player in question here:

U-M's Rich Rodriguez gives personnel update, including both Gradys | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
He said there?s likely only one incoming freshman who might not qualify academically. He expects to know about all of the first-year player in the next few weeks.
Slot dot and standout Army All-star practice performer Jeremy Gallon has been at risk for a long time. However, as far as I know, no word has been given since Turner's non-graduation and last chance to take the test (OGT is the rumor).

Both would be devastating losses. While UM has taken a remarkable volume of slots, most of those are underclassmen, some not coming till 2010, and the vast majority with less ability than Gallon. UM is thin at corner and safety and desperately needs Turner in the secondary as well.
We have seen him,? Rodriguez said this morning at the annual Women?s Football Academy. ?We watched high school film and watched him play basketball. You can see a guy?s athleticism and quickness. Obviously, he hasn?t played football, but it?s only been two years. He?s been getting coached and training with our basketball program that?s been pretty good. He?s not just 18 years old. He?s got some maturity as well. Who knows what?s going to happen? But he?s got enough athleticism that, based on what he did in high school, he can help us.?

Took time to read the comments following the FP story. I have to say that some of these scum fans continue to test all-time lows for stupidity, drifting into a muck that only delusional bottom-feeders could exist in. Another loosing season in Ann Arbor would be more than this type of fan deserves.

Despite not passing the OGT, Turner can still graduate. There are exemptions for SAT/ACT scores, GPA, among many other things. The school must be willing, and approval is needed from the State. He has met the requirements for the Clearinghouse, so perhaps that will also play a role.

You are right that Gallon is the one to be most worried about. He's a great talent. From what I've heard, his problem has been test scores. There's one more chance in June, if I'm not mistaken.

Turner would be a bigger loss to the class/team though.

From a quick google, the last test date before september was June 13th (yesterday).

I remember from looking it up the last time that the results usually come out 11 days after the date of the test. So, I guess Jeremy will know in a little over a week, and we'll find out sometime after that. He would be a pretty big loss for this class. I was excited about him as a player. He seemed to be one of the game changer types.

He is the player I'm the most excited about in the 09 class.

We already have 13 commits and our class is almost filled up. Do you know how many scholarships we have left? I can't keep up with all these transfers/players quitting. Michigan needs to be selective and go find some defensive tackles and cornerbacks. Michigan might struggle again this year finding dts.

UM has Johnathan Hankins (DT) from Michigan and from what I've heard, he is just waiting for a UM offer before he commits. He's going to be camping at UM this summer. He's claiming offers from OSU and Oklahoma. I'm pretty sure UM will be able to have a full class. Most estimates are 21 to a full 25.
