2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

But he didn't have "The Force"...or Marv Marinovich. I'm trembling.

McHoppy didn't have as many brain cells when he left either.

In all seriousness there has to be a balance with size and speed. I think too many of these schools are geting carried away with playing in space and quickness and are losing sight of the physical aspect of football.

It won't be too long before a team like Wisky is a nightmare matchup for teams full of 160lb slot dots.

Shit, we saw a preview last November in The Shoe. scUM ran out a bunch of their slots and crap (trying to get the ball to Odoms and company). The result? 42-7. Granted as he adds more pieces and (presumably) gets better line play, that line will come down a bit, but football is still a physical game won in the trenches. We're killing them there recruiting-wise.

I love that they now have a QB I can refer to as "Tater-Tot".

That is exactly what my brother used to call Drew Tate, the Iowa QB that was Bobby Carpenter's bitch in 2005. He got so frustrated that he earned a delay-of-game call for spiking the ball after the eleventieth time he was sacked. Iowa was -9 yards rushing on the day to over 300 for the Buckeyes.

That was a good day. I'd like to spend a day like that in the 'Shoe referring to a TSUN QB as Tater-Tot. Good times... Good times...

That was one of the best revenge games I've seen. Only other one that comes close is '04 scUM.

That was a great day to be in the Shoe. :pirate1:

Still can't believe all they put on him was a delay of game call...

Didnt he get "Spitlered"???

I can't wait until "Spitlered" is a term thrown around frequently this football season. He not only lit up McFluffy that game, but he trucked a blocker on a kickoff later in that game too. It wasn't on TV but you could hear it if you listened for it and you could surely hear it from the stands. The dude just laid there dead for about 15 seconds before getting up and trotting off the field. Spitler is a demon!!

I'm pretty sure that was 2006 actually... I mean, not like there wasn't any paticular Heisman caliber players in the Big10 around that year.

nope, it was 05. It was the only game Troy looked good that month (Texas, SDSU, PSU). 06 was their gold out at Kinnick where Gonzo had the wild reversing field catch TD.

I remember the '06 Iowa game vividly because Mark May, in his infinite wisdom, picked the winner based on the playmaker they had at quarterback (Troy Smith, Heisman Trophy winner) and the 1300 yard rusher they had in the backfield (Pittman coming off of a 1331 yard season in 2005)... he picked Iowa to win... fucking jackass

also, to get this back on topic, Forcier is a douchebag of epic proportions, I hope the entire Big Ten takes offense to the cocky little shit and welcomes him to Big Ten football in the proper fasion

Scout $

Juco CB Larry Parker holds BYU, Nevada & Houston offers. UM is calling with interest as well. He could return to his juco for another year and sign in december.

Larry would have 3 years remaining starting this fall.

You see their name in lists like this more and more. They better hope Tulsa doesn't swoop in and snatch another one late.

in this difficult economy, why don't Illinois and Michigan just join forces if you will, and bomb recruit together. For example, while sending out recruiting form letters, just attach both Universities to the top of the header.

Send one coach to each region for offers....when Michigan sends a coach into Ohio, just go ahead and offer for UI as well. He doesn't have to recruit for Illinois per se, but you know with the carpet bomb approach of each university, the recruit will be offered at some point by both.

Illinois can target Michigan for Michigan since DRod has basically destroyed or neglected all relationships in the state.

I know it seems crazy, but the benefits to saving on the budget would be great. Plus they may well be able to offer upwards of 500 kids this way. Currently, they are only capable of 250 or so.....quality means nothing when you can offer hundreds of kids and pick their position once on campus.

Of course Illinois coaches will have to check in with Michigan when offering a defensive prospect since UM only recruits slot receivers. Other than that, I think it is perfect.
